| Quote: knockersbumpMKII "Too late to change for next season, the squad is already picked.
Development of the academy to 1st XVII standard isn't good enough, not even close, mental strength/fortitude varies too frequently, basic skills vary too frequently, discipline varies too frequently, attacking and defending ability differs too frequently - well, except in attack in the 20 zone because mostly we're not very good/clueless.
Basically, the coach isn't good enough, the team/club won't move forward with Radford in charge as things stand.
IMHO we have a very good 1st XVII BUT it's not coached as well as it could be.
I'd say be prepared for a few seasons of 'nearly' or transition whichever you prefer before we can move forward.'"
you don't like Lee, we get it, change the blumin record, why don:t you coach the team?

| If Bumpy doesn’t like Lee why should he have to change the record ??
That’s communism mate
If we were all the same we’d be robots
In the last 4.5 years we’ve been truly awful at times and beautifully won 2 x CCs
Moving Forward as per the Thread :
In the next 5 years what is enough success ?
2 GF wins
2 CC wins
That’s success to me
Is Lee Radford and Andy Last the coaching set up to deliver this ? A 60% chance ?
I propose a clean sweep and a higher caliber coach and asst to meet the above goals
Name a Stand after Lee for the Cup wins and give him until the end of the Season to change my mind on this topic

| Getting rid of Lee and the staff wouldn't solve anything. I'm amazed at the amount of people not pointing the finger at an under performing pack or Danny Houghton. There lack of go forward and defence cant be coached into them, they have to want to do it. I dont buy its a coaches job to motivate either, these guys are full time professionals.
Not replacing Watts was a mistake but in the long run Masi will benefit from it. Fash on the other hand doesnt cut it for me.

| Amazing thread. My favourite suggestions are that you don’t worry about results and focus on next year and that you have a clear out of the coaching staff.
Both excellent ideas, as there’s no danger that further loss of momentum could damage your long-term prospects, and what top calibre coach wouldn’t choose a club where the first slight wobble after two trophies in two years, leads to your firing?

I know you value precise use of language, amenable to simple, literal interpretation, so just to note - no it isn’t and no we wouldn’t.

That seems to be the problem. Attack and ball movement is our problem. Slow and laboured passing. Is it time for an attack Coach to help out ?

We have the third best attack in the league.

| Try and develop our style more, I feel now we have some real threats out wide, but we persist on playing the forwards game, I'm fed up with us driving the ball in on the 4th tackle near the positions line.
Play our strongest team until we know we can't make the 4, once it's gone, more game time to young players, but start them rather than bringing them all on together.
I think we will finish 5th this year and when you look at injuries that's probably about right.
If possible I'll do all we can to bring in another top forward, but with no non fed places and SC issues I don't see this happening.

| Over reactions across the board !
Mathematically we're not out of the hunt for top four so each week we play the strongest possible 17 until the maths say different. We've won back to back cups and had a fatigue affected play off campaign last year. Injury problems this year have taken their toll. I don't think replacing the coaches will help in the long run, we enter another period of transition and upset ? Not for me thanks.

Can you not make a comment without resorting to name calling?? No need.

I've said for the last few years that we'd benefit from having someone like Cooke come in to give us an attacking flare as that's where we struggle IMO.

Agreed (although I wouldn't want Crooke) SL is boring because it's primarily coached by forwards, Sky encouraged terms like "the wrestle" "the collision" and that is where it has gone. As much as I hated them at the time, where are the Gregory's, Edwards, Hanley in the SL. There is simply little craft left in SL, McGuire, Burrow, going back even further,Kemble, Millward
attack seems to be almost coached out of players

I'd have Cooke in a heartbeat. I've seen first hand what he did at Doncaster RU attacking wise and I couldn't give 2 stuffs about the way he left Hull because his book has proved that he was shafted big time by us.

As a matter of interest, why would you not want Cooke?
If its anything to do with 2007, then you need to get your head out of the sand.

Everyones got a right to an opinion, but a statement like that perhaps needs a little more substance to back it up.
I have never met Paul Cooke, so I cannot pass judgement on him. I do not he was a tremendous RL player and with limited resourses has made a difference at the clubs he has coached at.
