| Quote: knockersbumpMKII "Again, people like you beat down on Thompson without good reason. He's turned from being an outside back to used as a utility forward mostly in a prop type role down the middle. He made 100+ more tackles than our marquee player last year, he only made two fewer tackle busts than our marquee player, yes he misses a few tackles but he's experienced and could fill in many positions across the field if required.
he'll never be a world beater but he's good enough for the role he does for us and he's still only 25, we need to be thinking about home developed backs more than forwards. We seem to produce plenty of forwards but quality backs especially in the halves are much much less common'"
Seeing as you using stats, have a look at his this week, in a team than dominated Hudds and playing against some inexperienced players, he missed the most tackles and made the least about of metres out of the forwards and the lowest average gain. Also managed to make an error from his 4 carries, compare these to Masi, who was only playing his 2nd SL game

Hull2524 puts Thompson down in almost every post he can, all knockers was doing was defending the kid and to use the stats from a single match in isolation is a pointless comparison to the whole of last season, again maybe done to suit your own agenda.
This thread is supposed to be about the validity of Hadley getting game time elsewhere not a pointless p1551ng competion about who's this and who's that.
This board really deteriorates at times. This being an example in my opinion.
Fwiw worth I'm pleased Wakefield are affording him the opportunity and a player in a similar mould to Thompson will be coming back fitter and pushing for a place in the starting 17.

His stats from all games this year have been poor and not great last year, It's a fair post to make a comparison of two players fighting for a simalar position, with Watts out I'd have kept Hadley.

You just don't rate Thompson and like to bash him everytime,Hadley is solid and a bit of a plodder Imo and Thompson offers a bit more going forward as will Turget with game time. Can see Turget leapfrogging Hadley as a regular next season.

| Opinions are what there are opinions. Have always thought Thompson gives his all but IMO hasn't got what it takes to be on our 17 barring injuries. I would love him to prove me wrong and hope he does . What I've seen Hadley offers more . I'd love them both to succeed why wouldn't i

When he has a good game I'll gladly give him credit, Hadley will give you more solid metres going forward, while Tomo will give you one good run in ten, while the rest of the time he gets dominated

There is simply no basis to state that other than being your opinion. Hadley has SL experience and does not let the team down.

| Neither Hadley nor Thompson look to have a lot more progression in their games. At least Turgut should have the potential to improve. I'd personally rather he got the game time out the three.

Why does a player have to be in the first XVII every week to justify their place in the squad?
Isn't that the whole point of having squad players, they aren't on top dollar but are good back ups, when we are able to produce a squad full of hull trained players from the academy system things might be different but we don't. And as seen by accquiring the likes of Connor, Griffin etc sometimes the youngsters just aren't of the required standard or the coach doesn't have the luxury of trying to introduce youngsetrs or doesn't trust them to do the job.
the likes of Thompson, hadley etc fill those positions we need just as any other team does.

Well its a forum and its all about opinions. As for SL experience, how does Turgut get it then?.....he will offer more than Hadley AND Thompson when he gets his chance.I have seen nothing in Hadley yo suggest he will be a stand out player and we need something different in the 2nd row.

| I like Hadley and I expect to see both him and Turgut in the same team down the line. But if Turgut fulfills his potential he'll be the one grabbing tries and headlines.

| Hadley isn't explosive or massive hitter in defence which doesn't make him stand out so he gets written off
But for me he's defensively decent with good technique. Solid rinner and has some of the best hands in our pack and is a beautiful line runner. Deserves far more appreciation than he gets on here imo
Id personally have him over thompson when fit. Do think Turgut will surpass them both though

| The thing with Hadley for me is that hes never really stood out. Hes been given a fair few opportunities but has never really taken a game by the balls. Now this is a player who has players like Ellis and Mini to learn from yet he doesnt seem to be progressing. My comment regarding him blocking players like Turgut is true, If Hadley keeps getting the nod in front of him then Turguts chance is getting blocked - he could flop given a reasonable run of games but he could step up and be our John Bateman which is something Hadley sadly doesnt look like becoming

| As you say all about opinions. We see different things in players. As for Turgut be nice to see how he goes at some time this year. Looks like mini wants to go round for another year
