He has been a really good signing who has consistently played well and I hope he gets another contract in SL or s good deal back home.'"
You've also got Callum Lancaster who is now in last year at U19's level and will be wanting a chance. With the bad injury to Dom Manfredi (9 -12 months) I wouldn't be adverse to having Michaels at Wigan for a year.

I agree that its thye correct decision to let him go. He has played with great effort and his performance yesterday will be remembered for a long time, but we cant allow the progress of young players like Naughton and Lancaster to be blocked for an Aussie squad player.

| but it's ok to block the progress of several youth players by signing players like Griffin and the young lad from Hudds who aren't exactly top notch are they?
Naughton is ok as a back up but his defence is very inferior to Micheals, Lancaster was scoring tries for fun in a poor Hull side in 2015 so not sure what is going to happen there.

I reckon Griffin is to replace Yeaman, also Griffin is more long term than Micheals.
Naughton may not be as good defensively,he is 7/8 younger so you would expect that, but he is much quicker and has a bit if Xfactor about him, he has scored a coupe of try's that Micheals wouldn't.
Tough but right decision for me.
I still think we might see Fonua on the wing, one advantage of that would be to utilise his catching ability on the wing, would score loads from high kicks he played there, although I do like him stacking from centre, his defence at centre is still s concern (watched the game last night and he missed 5/6 tackles including both try's)

| Huge game from Stevie Micheals. Put his body in harms way for the cause on several occasions. Saved his best game for our biggest day in the greatest stadium. I thought he was oustanding, and easily the best 3/4 on the pitch.

Agree with this.love michaels but some thing got to give. What ever happens though sm will always be rembered as a legend at f.c.nice that s journeyman cheap signing has earnt that through simply giving everything for the cause.hope he gets a s.l club so we can give few more renditions of his song on his return to show the love he's earned from the faithful.

It would be stupid to move Fonua now. He's the biggest strike centre in the league currently. Saw paul Sculthorpe call him this year's best import
If he'd not missed those early games he'd be hulls top try scorer by a distance
Also his carries and offloading from the centre cause teams all kinds of trouble
Defence doesn't worry me. Every ones had trouble on that right side. 6s centres and wings. Plus Fonua is actually still pretty young so with another off season done actually in the centres I'd have no worries
Fully agree with naughton and michaels. At naughton age and what he's already shown he'll end up a much better player than michaels imo

Like you say it would be crazy to move him back to the wing. He's much more a threat at centre and will only get better.

| I will be sorry to see Steve go but I dont believe the problem is money I wonder if we have a half back lined up and need the quota space. Hope so because I dont think Carlos is the answer. When Sneed struggled in the first half because of Warringtons efforts to restrict his impact Carlos should have come to the fore but didnt. We certainly need another playmaker in the halves and whilst I would think Abdul will fit the bill longer term I dont think his is consistent enough just yet. One possibilty short term I think is Jamie Soward who is at London but will only stay there if they are promoted to Super League which is unlikely. He apparently is looking to stay in UK

Fonua has been incredible of late. I was amazed to find out over the weekend that he's only 23!
I'd love Michaels to stay for another 12 months, he's proved his worth and is a very reliable player.

Very much under appreciated by too many fans and will be a big loss.
If Fonua is to revert back to the wing he needs to shift some timber.'"
I might off thought that before id seen pritchards bbc coverage inside training ground! Fonua with top off looked ripped, couldnt see no fat

Always amazes me when some people say about these guys losing weight when there solid muscle. Fans chant you fat b#@tard at Justin carney and he's absolutely ripped. I would leave fonua at centre. Yes he makes mistakes but his threat easily out weighs that. Even on Saturday when he made some poor decisions he scored one and set up the winner. Hopefully with age and experience the mistakes will become less frequent.
