| Our journey back on the club coach in 2008 was awful - pished up nugget offering everybody out on the coach. Men, women and kids.
The police met the coach at one of the services and warned him to shut up which he did for 10 minutes and then started again. Riot van was waiting at Albion Street for him but he legged it. Was identified and banned by the club.

Only football coaches its illegal.
Rugby coaches are actually ok.
But its put in place by the club for saftey and comfort of all passengers, you always get the 1 idiot that drinks to much and goes to far. Plus the toilet fills up quiker when people are drinking..which aint good on a long journey

No - carrying alcohol on a PSV to any sporting event is illegal and rightly so. I want an enjoyable journey not spoilt by some heads. As someone pointed out, it's only four hours or so. It's a sacrifice you have to make travelling there and back on the day.
Quote: *H*FC "PSV operators are reminded of the terms of section 1(1) of the Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol) Act 1985, as amended by the Public Order Act 1986, which prohibits the carriage of alcohol on a PSV that is being used for the principal purpose of carrying passengers for the whole or part of a
journey to or from a designated sporting event. '"
Quote: *H*FC "Intoxicating liquor, flares and similar pyrotechnics, must not be carried on coaches travelling to or from designated grounds. Operators will draw hirers attention to the requirements of the law, and
drivers shall, as far as reasonably practical, supervise boarding passengers and check that they are not obviously carrying intoxicating alcohol, flares and similar pyrotechnics. '"

NOTHING is ever done about it by the police..they have NO PROBLEM at all where rugby coaches are concerned.
Iv done every type from coaches from the club (they stipulate no drinking) to private parties to team coaches. All of the latter have had alcohol on..interaction with the police and nothing said...even took a group of cops to grand final (flowergate one) and they was all drinking.
Football coaches are stopped..checked and turned around if needed. But rugby is a completley different type of mentality..more relaxed..family friendly.
Yes i know what it states as the law,but nothing gets done.

Except a rugby match is not a designated sporting event this legislation only refers to FA approved matches. However most tour operators enforce the no alcohol rule for the reasons you describe.

wembley is owned by the FA and as rugby league is playing there it falls under the legislation of no alcohol allowed on supporters coaches

we went with the club supporters coach a few years ago when fc played london at the valley, the coach was stopped by the police before its return journey to hull, it was searched and beer was put under the hold, so it can and does happen

Not wanting to turn this into a boring who knows best debate but average Joe is right.
A designated match or ground is where the team is a member of the football association not who owns the ground hence the different rules for Hull City and Hull fc at same ground.
Rugby League is not a designated sport.

On that I agree.
That's why I stopped going to away games on coaches due to p155ed up n0b heads ruining it for everyone.
Wish people could just enjoy the occasion without the need to get legless.
Anyway bed time now early start in morning.
