| Quote: Stand-Offish "I was watching a recording of the game, because my good wife isn't a rugby fan, so It is very rare I view live stuff on TV.
This however gives me the chance to bin it if it is rubbish.
I was on the point of binning this game because of Thaler. He was spoiling the game.
At 6-2 to Wigan and nearing halftime, I was scratching my head as to how a side so much on top was losing and how they could possible win should this blinkered refing continue.
So I thought sod this and looked at the result on my phone, had Wigan won I would have binned it.
Fortunately Hull had won, so I carried on watching, thinking that I could stop shouting at the TV and relax.
The clown still had me shouting at him in the second half.
Cards on table, I dislike Wigan so am biassed, BUT, it struck me that any bit of messing about by Hull was quickly seized on and Wigan just did similar stuff ALL game and suffered little.
I don't subscribe to the idea that refs are bent, but I do think some can be hoodwinked relatively easily or influenced.
Wigan have turned messing about in the tackle and play the ball into an art form and refs are too soft on them.'"
You're bang on with your last line and it's spoiling the game as a spectacle as every team has to try it to be competitive.

Ohh dear, watched from the sofa did you.
The only disgrace Mr Wane was the idiot in the middle embarrassing himself and Rugby League.
Get over yourself.

| Quote: Kosh "My opinion last night at the game was that in the last 30 minutes he produced the most blatantly biased refereeing performance I could remember seeing in more than 30 years of watching RL.
Haven't watched the match back yet so that opinion [imay[/i change.'"
When you do watch it back, it gets even worse.
Sam Tomkins persistent questioning of referees is 'bringing the game into disrepute' but not one of them has the boll0cks to sort it out.

| Poor refereeing performance for me. We knew they would slow the ruck down which they did but everytime we got up they interfered without punishment.
When they play the ball they continually move off the mark and interfere with our marker. All our dropped ball went forward none of theirs did.
shameful Mr Thaler just glad we defied the odds and beat the pies with all that help too.

| For the neutral perspective, I had some York Knights fans sat behind me last night and I could hear them describe the refereeing as "biased" on several occasions (biased in Wigan's favour) and "at least it's some consolation that the refereeing is as bad at this as it is in our league".
So it's not just Hull fans feeling this.

| The PTB was an utter joke from within a few minutesof the start of the game. Deliberately holding playets in, moving miles off the mark, delaying releasing a tackled player and Thaler was horrendous with his balance on policing it, or rather lack of.
Still cannot fathom how those two 'knock ons' that went backwards were called such.

| The perspective of the game is sometimes hard to judge from a seat in the stands.
I have waited until I watched the back on TV before making judgement.
Fan want consistency. We did not get that last night. The Ruck was not officiated the same. Moving off the mark just doesnt get penalised and therefore is prone to abuse.
With the benefit of listening to the audio of the referee and the VR it does give some clarity on some of the decisions, but it was more of a case for trying to justify then rather then being correct.
What appeared to be a trip on Ellis was not looked at. The VR could easily have been used to clarify this.
The Minichello no try (fair enough, he knocked on), but to restart with a Wigan scrum? Thaler (and the commentary team ) tried to state that Williams made the ball go backwards, then changed to "the ball came out on impact" Well, for as many season as I can remember, that was classed as a loose carry and therefore a knock on by the ball carrier.
moments earlier, similar situation, Bateman spills the ball on impact with the ground whilst still moving. That is a free play and not as described tackle complete.
The officiating was poor last night but not as poor as Wigans turnout. I dont buy the travel excuse. I distinctly remember a play off game at KC (when Horne nearly got us the win in hte last seconds) where wigan just about filled the North stand, probably twice the number of fans than they brought last night and a further distance. Truth is, there fans are as sick of watching Wanes negative style as the rest of us.

| Having just watched the game again I'm really disappointed at the blatant bias shown by referee Ben Thaler. It almost like it's programed into him. I eventually lost count of the times he gave Wigan the benefit of the doubt or just ignored offences whilst constantly giving decisions against Hull in similar situations. Despite winning, displays like this by officials really create a sense of disillusionment and frustration for the fans and spoil some of the enjoyment of the game. Consistency is key for the game and the RFL must address the issue of the so called big sides, particularly Wigan and Leeds who are allowed to push the boundaries of sportsmanship beyond what is acceptable!

| On reflection strange work by Benny.
He didn't go out there to favour but ended up doing so with some incredible calls.
Not sure who had a worse game - Sam or Benny but happens. Maybe he'll be better next time but he needs to be even on the wrestle. Much more even.

You're right Jake, it definitely was. Often happens with a double pump pass and so it did for this one. In the end it didn't matter but that could have been a blatant game changing mistake by Thaler.
