| This would be a typical Hull signing. We start to gel and act as a team then we buy a player that can totally mess it up.

| Is Pritchard a bone fide marquee signing though?
I thought Lee Radford had previously said that we wouldn't be utilising the ruling .
Also thought AP said that Pritchard was a marquee "type" signing .
I could well be wrong though.
Like someone said earlier, Carlos has all the skills needed for stand off, but he could be well established in the centre role by next season
You'd like to think we'd be in with a shout for Marshall (if finances allow ), given the connections we have to him.

| I guess there are 3 salary caps....
(1) The RFL salary cap limit (which now also has a new upper limit of 50% of "Club Relevant Income"icon_wink.gif.
(2) The clubs own salary cap, based on projected income.
(3) The clubs salary cap after invoking the £175k marquee rule.
I reckon we're close to the limit on (2), which could, of course, be the same as (1).
So we're up to the cap limit, but moving to (3) could allow for another signing.

| Quote: The Dentist Wilf "Adam Pearson said only two Teams had pucker marquee players in Super league this year and we were one of them with Frank Pritchard, we can't have two!
EDIT sorry Chris our replies clashed!!'"
Is the marquee player a marquee player for the year, or for the duration of their contract?
We could front load franks wages this year and pay him 500k for example, with only the first 175k counting on the cap, and they pay him 50k a year for the rest of his contract. Next season, do the same for another player. Not sure whether that'd be allowed though ha.

| Quote: Adam Pearson ""Frank has shown the type of character he has because I'm sure he could have found a way of not coming," Pearson told the Mail.
"He's genuinely excited at coming and being a part of what Lee Radford is building and we are excited about his arrival, because he's a real marquee player for us."
"With Gareth Ellis, Mark Minichiello and Sika Manu coming over too, people can see the type of culture that we are building and Frank, with his commitment and character, only adds to that for us.
"We are expecting big things from him on and off the field, because we want him to provide that leadership and set the bar for all our young players too."
Pritchard is set to arrive in Hull in the next couple of weeks, with Pearson saying the club will make sure they do all they can to ensure their star signing settles in quickly.
"It's important we help Frank settle in to life in England quickly and we make him feel as comfortable as possible," added Pearson.
"Frank, (Mahe) Fonua, Carlos (Tuimavave) and Sika (Manu) are all in the same boat and we will make sure they all feel settled in Hull so their only concern is throwing themselves into pre-season training."'"

I guess it might also catch the £500k front loading of a salary, but I'm sure Mr Koukash will have worked this one out.

| don't think we would av a problem with cap I doubt very much if big Frank is on 175k more like 120k and if we wish to move him into the salary cap and class someone else as the new marquee then that should be ok the point being as long as only one top paid player does not count against the cap
Now with Price, Yemo, Whiting, Michaels (who would av to move on to create an overseas spot ) feka, probably Naughton if he wont sign a new contract there should be a fair bit of movement upgrades to Green and Bowden will have to be offered cause with Feka possibly going we would need them and there going great, but we have plenty of cover in our promising youngsters who I think will be ready next year like Fash, Jansin, Lancaster, Downs, Littern Dean, Tyson-Wilson, Osborne all great prospects the only weakness been Littern still being very young at 18 for super league but we have washy also, looks like we could get Benji and what a signing he would be, he would make Chase seem like an amateur hes top class

In the oz press it's already been near enough said they expect him over here
Pryce
Michaels
Feka
Whiting
Yeaman
Naughton
Hadley would make it very doable imo

| Quote: fcandy "I'm sure I remember in an interview that AP stated that if the club continue to struggle financially then we will have to adjust our salary cap spend to be in line with our income. So perhaps this may have a impact on any future recruits. Could we afford a marquee signing? Let's hope home attendances go up and the team encourages that with the performances we have se so far in 2016. That way, we may be able to continue spending at the max cap.
I personally would buy another strike centre and move Carlos Tuimavave to 6 for 2017.'"
You'd take a kid that for whatever reason at 24 hasn't made it as a 6 and who currently looks like the most dangerous centre in the comp and move him into his failed position. Hypothetically speaking if he was to stay fit and maintain this form he'd be a man of steel contender.

| Worth keeping either Yeaman or Whiting as a squad player as all of the salary doesn't count on the cap. After these two, who is out longest serving player, Houghton?
I don't see too much movement in squad terms next year.

Pointless keeping either imo. More so by next year with turgut downs etc another year on. Danny h testimonial next year? Must be near. If so could lose half his salary

if he goes well for the dragons this year then they would offer to extend his contract for at least 1 more year I would have thought, unless they have a replacement already lined up.

Already confirmed he's leaving them. No oz club would probably offer more than a yr. So a 2/3 yr deal would prob get him over here

I like Whiting but no sense in keeping either player for next season
