| What exactly do they mean by "the future"?
When will be the dawn of this brave new world?
Next year? In 3 years? 5 years?

| We also need coaches with the right ability to develop young players. The wigan and leeds youth development structures don't happen by chance

exactly right, and we go back to the common denominator that our current coaching staff have yet to demonstrate that they can get the best out of players, encourage their development and iron out any faults they find, and this applies to all players not just the young ones. if we have promising young players who are not being developed to bring out their best they will soon be picked off by other clubs

Good post. One of the things that I have found both pleasing and frustrating this season has been the amount of games we've lost narrowly. The pleasing aspect is that we are running teams close such as Warrington recently. The frustrating aspect is that we've been doing it all season and it's the same mistakes/faults costing us. The coaches should have been working on correcting this and we should have been seeing some improvement as the season progressed.

A lot of the mistakes come from poor basic skill (passing accuracy) and a lack of structure. This has been Radford's greatest failing in terms of improvement so far in his first season. There is of course an onus on players to improve as well. The complete absence of real play making leadership is also a factor which hopefully will be addressed to a large degree.

Basic skills have been poor for years: not just passing accuracy but speed of passing, speed of play the ball, chasing kicks and supporting runners. None of the last few coaches seem to have addressed these. I did think that Radford would have taken a more "back to basics" approach - unless he has and the players just don't get it.

I agree - it's not something that we were good at last year but has suddenly disappeared from our game. Far from it.

Certainly makes you wonder what needs to be done. Players have come and gone, coaches have come and gone, and yet we're still poor at the basics.

| Somebody needs to grab this club by the kahunas and give it a massive shake up. That mainly involves a full new coaching set up with none of the old guard staying. Until that happens we'll never achieve anything

Most of those are not basic skills.
"Speed of play the ball, chasing kicks and supporting runners" comes from lack of enthusiasm and commitment in my opinion and is why i get so cheesed off when i hear coaches and reporters say the players couldn't be faulted for effort and commitment.
Yes they could otherwise these things wouldn't be so noticable.

You can also add to that offloading the ball in the tackle. We just don't do it enough.Look at Warrington how they offload most of the time, their speed at the play the ball and players actually running onto the ball is in sharp contrast to us.We only have one forward who runs onto the ball and that's Feka.
It doesn't matter how many young players we have coming through if the coach cant recognise and rectify basics then he isn't a coach.Good coaches can mould average players in to a good unit and not by just grunt and grind which is Radfords way.
Signing the likes of Tuson to unleash into Super League and classing Pryce as a marquee signing doesn't instill me with confidence.
Love the club but the way its been run at the moment and that also includes the way players are treated like Mcdonnell leaves me disillusioned.
Cant see any true marquee overseas player wanting to sign for us looking at how players are being treated and that's what is needed for fans to get excited about otherwise I can see pass sales falling dramatically for next season.

IMO if a player needs to be told to do any of the above then they must be pretty thick. Everything mentioned is just common sense isn't it? Another thing is if a player in his 20's, maybe even older hasn't learned how to pass accurately by now then there is no hope for them.

Which tends to tell me it's all of the coaches in the structure, not just teh head coach. These skills should be coached into the youngsters at the club from the minute they step through the door
