All professional sportsmen get abuse, the vast majority know how to deal with it appropriately. They acknowledge politely and withdraw. As the old saying goes, they ignore it and it goes away. As they're the professional and representative of their club and employer, the onus is on them to take the initiative - not to inflame and prolong the debate.

Unfortunately for himself and HKR, Cockayne has once again revealed his clueless true colours. (And is still doing so - he's still at it.) It's the modern day equivalent of Cantona's kung-fu kick, and is just as unacceptable.

Absolutely agree, he is getting some major abuse but most professional sportsmen would block & ignore. He's reacting like for like. Not good, and certainly not a role model. I suspect he's not really bothered, it suits his image I guess.

He may even have a point regards Rankin, but his reaction this morning is unprofessional and someone at KR needs to have a word.

As he says himself, when we turn them over next time around he'll be on the receiving end. It'll be interesting to see his reaction then!

It's escalated far beyond that, now. Read the twit Cackayne's rants, I mean, tweets from last night and this morning. Funny, but shockingly unprofessional. Is it a fake account?

When you say it has escalated far beyond that, do you mean since the conversation he has received a tirade of abuse off Hull fans and has replied with several petty insults?
Unprofessional? Yes. A storm in a teacup? Definitely. Enough to warrant people wishing serious harm on him? No.

At the end of the day, scraping wins against mediocre teams is the pinnacle of Cockayne's career. He's a poor man's Kirk Yeaman but with a criminal record and a sideline in selling dubious slimming aids. What's to take seriously?
