OOC though it will take a sizeable contract offer to get him.

| Quote: swissfan "We need to get real about Briscoe going to Leeds
1. We offered him big money to stay .. maybe more than he ended up on at leeds
2. Who would blame him for going to a top 4 club , nearer to his home where his brother is
3. He played for 5 years outside a centre who was not well known for timing his passes to give him great opportunities. he now plays outside a world class centre with excellent decision making and passing ability !!. he also was short of opportunities due to our lack of halfs to spread ball to wings. look at what he plays with now - will be back to world class winger this season !!
get real ...there is no wonder he got stale at Hull and was ready for another opportunity and it is a shame he did not get offer for Oz and ended up at a hetherington cliub... I am sure adam was head in hands when it was announced but we cannot blame lack of money offer by macrae as main reason for departure.'"
Correct.
If Gentle had gone earlier, we'd probably still have Briscoe and Danny Tickle

| seems a bit odd and not heard anything on the grapevine. If humberside have broken the story then inclined not to believe it.
If true we need to be looking for a winger because Colbon and Crookes just don't do it for me.

Are you suggesting that it's wrong to blame Macrae but that we should blame Gentle instead? Nonsense. I think Briscoe had his heart set on a move whether it was to a NRL club or to Leeds were he'll feel he's got a better chance of honours, he's closer to home, playing alongside a centre that feeds him the ball etc (take your pick) whereas Tickle was always clear that he wanted to move back closer to home.

| If true I'd take a punt on Dixon from London. Strike now while while we can, before the vultures circle when Broncos get relegated.
Back to Biggs, given half his contract is SC exempt I don't really see what the issue is. He is a winger. The transition from RU to RL is not that big for a winger. He is also defensively sound so I fail to see why there is such a negative response. He could be / could have been a good project.

Biggs is totally off the SC in the first year and half in the second year - what length contract had he signed for you guys?
Also, if rumours are to be believed Carney has already agreed a contract renewal at cas (to those asking earlier in the thread)

| Tickle was never going to stay, his family had all moved back to Lancashire and he wished to join them.
Briscoe would have done if we had recruited better I:E signed him a decent centre to play outside. What we did was allow him to go stale, which was already effecting him. He had lost his England place in a season and needed to be playing outside a top centre.

| If we are looking for another winger, Macani from London Broncos might be worth keeping an eye on. Has impressed in a bad team.

I think it was 2 and whatever was left of the season after he finishes with Bath. AP has said he might not register him this season because if he doesn't get here until May/june it still counts as one full season exempt. Wonder if thats become a problem.

| Briscoe was off, regardless. He wanted NRL and lets face it, he'd have had a decent centre partner there and would have been a sensation with his freakish strength and speed.
As his form fell, the overseas offers fell too. He knows he'd have better chances at Leeds.
He'll be a full England international now and the best of luck to him.

Colbon looks steady but nothing spectacular (too early to really judge though) and would be worth keeping as a back up I think. Crookes is too injury prone for my liking.

If we can move Crookes on as well we should be looking to do so, seems a bit injury prone.'"

We should be looking at a young Championship winger.
We have a very exciting winger in the 19's called Callum Lancaster, but he has just turned 17 and will need a couple of years.
As said above, Colborn should not be an option for next year.
We should also be looking at getting Talanoa signed up for another year ASAP.'"
Agree with that last bit in particular.
Considering all the question marks over him and then his late arrival I think the bin man has been excellent. Not the quickest in the world, but he's safe, looks for work, and is very strong when he carries the ball. I was watching him in the Salford game and he never loses his front in the tackle. We always get a roll on after his carries because he gets it played so quick.
He's not Tom Briscoe, but he is as good a replacement as we could have hoped for imo.

| Be hard to find a winger. Don't think we'll go for a big name. Centre would be a priority. Therefore we're simply looking for a back up to lineham and binman (if we get him signed up) crookes for me wasn't remotely as bad as made out last year and when fit (which is a problem granted) is as good a squad winger as you'll get! But we need decent cover as lineham isn't exactly durable!

Thank god he stayed then. Briscoe is great but not what we needed outside a centre who doesn't pass, and Tickle is well past it.
