| Quote: Hutchie "Would like to see the great man honoured by us this Friday.
Guard of honour from all players as he enters the field?
I know its hard as it may or may not be his last game, but he deserves to be honoured by all clubs he visits if there season carries on imho
How may players will even get near a career like hsi, inspirational role model for everyone associated with the game.'"
Excellent idea
Menzies is a rugby league legend (and for once that word is not misused). Twenty years at the top of the sport.
I think it would be a nice touch by Hull to honour him in what is (hopefully) his final game.

| I think the fixture has too much importance for us to be lining up before it applauding an opposition player. I could understand it if Wire did it in France last week at his last home league game (did they I don't know?) but to be honest I don't really see the relevance of us doing it in Hull at the start of a game that may not be his last. Great player whose contribution to the game has been massive but not for Hull. Sorry - not in keeping with everyone else it seems but that's what I think. After the game - no problem.

Fully agree. I think all of the messing about before the game on Friday took the intensity out of us at the start of the game

| A guard of honour for an opposition player !!
Have we gone soft ?
A big game like Friday and we want to form a guard of honour for Menzies! How strange !
They should have paid tribute to him last Saturday.
The only thing we should be doing is keeping Menzies quiet .

Spot on, this is knock out rugby and our players need to be focussed rather than applauding an opposition player prior to KO.
As mentioned earlier a guard of honour should have been arranged for his final SL home game v Wire. Fantastic player but hope his last performance is a losing one.

Him and Casty were both given a great reception before the Warrington match, so there's no need for us to go any further. If he's introduced to the crowd specifically then I'm sure he'll get well deserved applause.

This is why I mentioned after the game, don't want it to help him raise his game. Also didn't understand the Manu chants on Friday, yes he deserved a good reception but he's not our player any more. Maybe give him a bit more confidence against us not having the crowd on his back.

Ogre got a good standing ovation when announced to the crowd on Friday, so had his send off, (unlike the ripple for Galea).
Don't agree with menzies having a guard of honour at the KC. Good player but not one of ours, was up to Cats to give him his send off last week as was done.

| Not one of ours, but nevertheless he's surely someone who every fan must admire.

| Manu would have got torn apart by the threepenny stand on his return. However, time moves on and maybe Menzies deserves a clap after the game ..

Menzies never played for us.
Menzies is a legend. He's played RL at top level on two continents for the last 90 years (or so ).
In the 3d days, it was a lot more common for players to stay at one club for a long time, so reactions to returning players were stronger.
But yeah, apart from that, your reasoning is totally sound.

| That really bugged me last Friday night. Why were some of our fans chanting 'Manu' as the players ran out? He doesn't play for us any more and it doesn't send a great message to our current playing roster.
As far as I'm concerned, they can do anything they want with Steve Menzies AFTER the game. We need to be fully focused on beating the Cats.

| I can only disagree with this suggestion. Whilst I admire Menzies as a player this is also a professional game meaning I want Hull FC to win tonight and in the Grand Final!
Would we be so generous in applauding Michael Dobson for his services to Hull KR if we'd been playing them tonight? I think not!
