| Quote: Jake the Peg "Disappointing that their winger managed to chase him but neither of ours did'"
If you watch it again the much malligned Jason Crookes is the fourth man to him behind the 3 Wigan players who all had a defensive 10 yard head start and makes a real effor to get there. As for him being caught it was text book chase really from Wigan with Green I think forcing him to the outside for Charnley who had the least ground to cover to catch him. And the other reason Charnley may have caught him aside from less ground is the same reason Usain Bolt dosent run with a rugby ball under his arm.

| I think Shaul would have scored if he looked back to see Charnley was coming..
Again though, Briscoe should have been with him..

| With the amount of defending he was involved in he simply ran out of steam..
If it had happened in the first half they wouldn't have caught him.

| for such an inexperienced player he did a fantastic job to get away and through Wigan defence in the first place with his balance, speed and vision.
we have a star in the making

| Never going to get a scrum or penalty for it, it's always classed as attacking the arm, and a loose carry.
Shaul's brilliant over 15-30 yards but doesn't have lasting speed, as others have said, Lineham wouldn't have been caught.
Disappointing nobody was in support.

| Quote: Smiggs "Spot on, called this at the time. O'Loughlin is clearly in an offside position when he collects the ball, ie closer to our line than Charnley is when he knocks down the ball. Credit to O'Loughlin though as his chase back forces Shaul into the range of Charnley.'"
No he isnt the ball bounced 3 or 4 times towards the Wigan line before he picks it up

| Was gutted for the kid not to get the try. It would have been outstanding.
Said straight after the game if Shaul scored that we would have won. Think it would have lifted the players and fans incredibly and had a very similar effect to Lineham's try in the semi.
I'm sure Shaul will get another chance on the big stage in the future!

This will be the same Shaul who took the ball from dummy half at Wakefield and went (if my memory is right) from inside his own half to score.

| Charnley is very fast and underestimated over distance.
Because of his bulk people think he ain't that fast and he is.
A Lineham v Charnley chase would have been an interesting one.
Charnley though was a sprinter in his school days.
You have to give Shaul more game time next year than this.
Bet him and Crooks have blinders on Friday.

Didn't affect Charnley's. Was disappointed actually, thought he was quicker than that. Should have checked back inside and gone for the sticks.

| Both Jamie Shaul and Jason Crookes have explosive acceleration off the mark but they're not length of the field sprinters.
Tom Lineham is nowhere near as quick off the mark but once he gets going he really does go for a big bloke. Agree that Charnley v Tommy would be an interesting race to watch!

Before making glib statements like that, I suggest you brush up on the Knock On in Laws of the game.
How many times it bounces towards the Wigan dead ball line is totally irrelevant

Yeah, that's the one. He went through the defensive line and rounded the FB on that occasion, he wasn't in a direct sprint with anyone.
