Quote: pmarrow "1 minute 50 seconds in, is a moment I will take to the grave. The passion of miller and the celebration of the fans in the background.

We have our downs more then our Ups but I wouldn't swap the team I support for anything.'"

Tom Lineham as he scored that try. Goosebumps every time I watch it.

Sometimes we think they can't be bothered - Sunday was different.

Quote: BP1 "
Which brings us back to 2013 and Sunday evening. Another CC semi-final, another frantic end to a game played out in an atmosphere of pandemonium bordering on hysteria. When Briers put the kick into the corner for Monaghan I honestly thought we were all going to have a collective heart attack. As the ball was punched out and the hooter went, all I could see around me was a mixture of ecstasy and sheer relief in equal measure. We all know, only too well from many years of expeirence, just what a roller coaster ride it is following our club, but Sunday really was a new level of torture, even for us.

I never heard it I was celebrating that much! I've watched it back a few times now and I still can't hear it on the TV either icon_lol.gif

when Miller is celebrating, you see Radford in the Yellow t-shirt celebrate - but who is in the grey? is it Horney (minus protective boot)

Cardiff 05 because I couldn't see the clock where I was sat and when Cookie scored I thought there was like 10 seconds left but it seemed like 15 minutes.

Quote: BP1 "Sunday was certainly one of the most nerve-wracking ends to a game I've witnessed for some time. It's brought back a couple of memories from past CC semi-finals that I'd nearly forgotten about.

!985 semi against Cas at Headingley, 10-10 with a couple of minutes remaining and defending for our lives against a Cas side playing for a winning drop goal. Ball goes back to Cas player (possibly Bobby Beardmore) but the kick drifts wide. From the resulting re-start we contrive to knock on and Cas once more drive in to set up another drop goal attempt. Once more we managed to thwart them (either by charging the kick down or by making the kick too difficult for the Cas player, I honestly can't remember the details). Seconds later hooter goes and we live to fight another day. Wednesday night replay ends in victory for us in what was, to put it mildly, a feisty affair.

Fast forward seven years and the 1992 semi against Cas (again) at Headingley (again). A minute left and we are trailing by 2 (10-8, 12-10 ?) with head & feed from a scrum about 25 out from their sticks. A fairly frantic set ensues which climaxes with Paul Eastwood on the very last play of the game being hauled down inches short of the line. The hooter goes and Wembley is gone having been less than a stride away.

Oddly enough, all three of the games above where played to determine who would meet Wigan at Wembley.'"

Great post.

The 85 semi I remembered a bit differently. I thought we scored really late (Sterling) to salvage a draw and didn't recall them missing chances to win it late on but I was quite young and am sure you are right.

We blew them away in the reply in the first half I seem to remember and Jimmy scored a beauty.

In recent times away from what as already been mentioned I thought the grand final eliminator against Bradford was really tense but an absolutely fantastic atmosphere.

one that sticks in my mind is the game against saints in 2010 when Ticks kicked the drop goal on the dying seconds. It seemed after he kicked it that the ball was in the air for about an hour icon_lol.gif

Being at a game Sunday was possibly the most nervous but then I am a very nervous watcher even in tight league games never mind something that has a little bit more gravitas to it.

However the 2005 final I was sadly living abroad and couldn't get back (more like couldn't afford) and had to make do with listening to it on a internet stream (couldn't get a live vid stream) in an internet cafe.
All was good till Cooke scored then the internet dropped out and im frantically trying to find out if we kicked the goal, even so far as commandeering a frightened looking teenagers computer to make sure it wasn't just my terminal that had lost internet.
When it finally came back I heard we had won. (Still reckon there was a Rovers supporter around who caused the drop of the internet)

It is the reason we follow our team through thick and thin though, those moments of pure ecstasy when the hooter goes to secure a nail biting win are truly special. I would however prefer a win at a canter in the final icon_smile.gif

I've had a vision that Lineham plucks the ball out the air in the last play of the game from Pat Richards to go the full length to win the game. Milky then jumps around like a lunatic in the in goal area and Whiting gets MOTM for playing at Hooker. icon_wink.gif

Come on its FC, anything is possible. icon_smile.gif

Sundays game was a fantastic advert for RL and a great game for the neutral (me) to watch, hope the final produces a similar spectacle.

The 2005 CC Final was also a great game to watch even for a losing supporter (me), loved every minute of it, it had everything that makes 80 minutes feel like you've just blinked your eyes and missed it, was talking to a Hull supporter at a customers a few weeks ago about rugby in general and then he mentioned Cardiff 2005 and the both of us went off into memories of that day, its one that has stuck in both our minds for the same reasons, it was just a bloody good game of rugby league - rugby as it should be played.

Looking forward to this years final.

Would that be enough to gain him instant entrance to the FC Legends club? hehe

I can't imagine the crowd response if that happened icon_smile.gif

I'd be getting ready for a Vegas style wedding in front of the Bobby Moore statue if he did that!
