ah widnes announcing a signing half way through the season again, smacks of trying to unsteady the ship like at huddersfield last season when they signed kevin brown.... could of kept it quiet till the end of the season even if we all kind of knew!

Unless we have an injury crisis can't see him coming back into the side.

sounds like widnes have a habit of announcing mid season transfers for players past tehre best...... brown and tickle have hardly played this year between them

I think he is currentley a better player than Pitts and we have missed his goal kicking, if it gives us the best chance of achieving something and I think we have an outside chance then he should play.

I can't see how, I'm pretty sure hat he told the club last year or at the start of this year he was leaving, hull could have sold him, but Pearson choose not too, stated this in the HDM.

Tickle has done no wrong as far as I can see.

Jay Pitts has being our best forward this past month and would be an insult to drop him. We would also be weaker in the long run and going against Gentles method of nobody is guarnteed a squad. The Agar days are gone Tickle could have played the last two games..

A signing I wasn't particularly impressed with when we made it, but became happy to be wrong about. Been a very good signing for us, particularly an outstanding goalkicker, and served us well. I wish him well, if he can get back to staying fit Widnes have got themselves a quality addition. I do wonder if the amount of rugby he's played (started very early, remember) is starting to catch up though, and how well he'll be holding up come that 3rd year. Like has been said, we've probably had his best years so we should be glad of that and pleased he spent them with us.

Has he? Reading between the lines it seems to me like he's been decided he's going for quite a while and the club were just hoping they could change his mind. I don't recall one public word from Tickle about anything, and nor have his performances suggested he's been anything other than thoroughly professional, either.

Absolutely. Danny has been a great signing for us and I for one will be sorry to see him go. A credit to the club, unlike some of the posters on here.

Seems about right to me. I think the timing is good, as well. We've had Tickle's best years and he does seem to be increasingly injury prone. I'd have been disappointed if we'd have given him a new three year deal. Hope he gets back to full fitness and does ok at Widnes though.

Have to say I dont go along with you BBM. As Carl has mentioned and I am pretty sure that Danny made a request to leave for family reasons a long while ago and seem to remember AP commenting on it when all the rumour was flying around even before last season.

I'm sure I remember AP saying he'd spoken to Danny and understood his position and would try and work a deal out for him to extend his contract. The club and AP I believe have always known this but got him to see out his contract and hoped they could persuade him to re sign. Lets be honest any transfer fee for him last season would have been minimal anyway with a year left on his contract.

It may well be a case of they club decided a while back that they had to look elsewhere and have used the time to do so under the radar so to speak.

All in all Danny has been very professional and upfront from the off and although i would have preferred he stayed I think a 3 year deal is maybe one year too many for us to have offered anyway.
