I asked the question if it was a possible scenario.
At no point in my post did I state that I do not have any sympathy for anyone who is suffering from depression.

Why does it warrant a ban? Is it not on topic?

She's trying to create awareness for depression by telling the story. I thought that was abundantly clear?

Utmost sympathy for Brett Seymour, shows the depth of his problem if he thought it was possible to drive off the bridge. Not too sure about his wife sharing the details through a Sunday paper and the social media, though.

Can't really judge either way because I and probably most of us don't know the guy or his wife. Depressed or mentally ill people do terrible things which can result in harming themselves and others. Drugs and alcohol play a part often but whether it's a good enough reason for sympathy when they may potentially kill someone whilst driving in that state is debatable and will depend on your point of view and involvement. I don't understand why anyone would want to involve the media on something like this though surely it's a time for friends and family and sorting it out quietly? At best it provokes this sort of debate which I wouldn't think is helpful.

Brett's wife probably has no experience of this illness before, she's spoke to the press to try and raise awareness. If that helps the couple in the long run only time will tell. But even if it doesn't help, it highlights the problem and if only one person seeks help due to it, it has served it's purpose.
Anybody who takes sleeping pills with Wine and goes out with the intention of killing themselves are suffering from a mental illness in some form.
That night a young woman and 11 month old child were nearly faced with the prospect of losing their Husband/Dad.

I hope he gets all the help he needs, idle speculation is crass and uncalled for.

I for one slaughtered his performance that day and cant help felling a little guilty.

He may never really have achieved at the club, but the contract he got wasnt his fault, and no one on here would have turned it down.

Some people posting some vile stuff on here and various other threads, I hope they never suffer the depths of depression that have you considering taking your own life, it's a very dark and lonely place to be, a few halfwhits posting crap online wont make a jot of difference either way. Think on, this could well have been an "RIP" thread, would people be making such observations as they have in those circumstances?

I'm with "Jimmy Carr", I am thankful he never made it to the bridge, as for speaking to the papers, what better way of highlighting the issue and the great work being done by Sporting Chance.

This post should be made a sticky in support of Brett and his family and anyone coming on here posting crap should be banned.
