It's odd because, barring a minor miracle, we were never in with a realistic chance of reaching the grand final this year. Our aim this season has to be to improve on what we achieved last season so that we can build towards being able to challenge in 2014 or 2015. I don't think anyone connected with the club is expecting a GF appearance this year, so it seemed odd to mention it in a thread discussing our fortunes.

I think you right, nobody at the club mentioned about a grand final but top 4 was I believe.

Saw enough in your game against wire to suggest that top 8 should be easily do-able. Hard to imagine you playing much worse than yesterday but there's the other side of the coin to consider: how good can you be when you turn in your best performance? Better to get the bad ones out of the way early perhaps.

Still achievable, but if you finish 7th or 8th then you may as well not bother and start the winter holidays a week early. Nothing worse than limping in to the play-offs and getting a kicking.

Usually the table starts to take shape after the easter weekend.

the big difference between 2006 and now is that Sharp came in and took a side that had won a trophy the year before, and had finished 5th in the league in 2005 and 3rd in 2004 and improved both the defence and the confidence and got them back in form.

this side hasn't beaten an SL side in the cup for 5 years, and hasn't consistently been at the races in Super League since we finished 4th in 2007...its not as though we are just going through a rough patch and will re-discover old glories, some of the these players have never played consistently well.
