Quote: Mrs Barista "Great stuff, looks like he's leaving no stone unturned in trying to improve the club. You have to feel really positive that we have him at the helm, particularly when the sport overall is in poor health. Anyone know what specifically is being done on injury prevention? AP was quite vocal about the level of injuries being ridiculous last season. Guess this is what he means by sport science equipment, but have we appointed a new physio?'"

According to hudge, sandydick is a wold leader in sports science and rovers were shat last year so I hope we manage to follow the wigan model

We're discussing injury prevention and what is being done about it since AP expressed his dissatisfaction with the amount of injuries we get. Not sure how winning a community award will help in this respect.

Thats the wigan model though......im sure a lot is being done since he personally spent £150,000 to bring it upto std and they well may be interviews underway for a new physio but we dont know do we.

Which is why I asked this which Jake was replying to:
"Anyone know what specifically is being done on injury prevention? AP was quite vocal about the level of injuries being ridiculous last season. Guess this is what he means by sport science equipment, but have we appointed a new physio."

It's a genuine question. We've had more than our fair share of injuries in 3 out of the last 5 years IMO. Perhaps some can be attributed to older players, but whilst Long/Dykes could have been foreseen, Manu and latterly Lynch have had very good records. Warrington have probably the oldest squad in the competition and don't do too badly in this respect. I'm really interested in what the current regime are doing in terms of analysing cause and effect and identfying opportunities to prevent a repeat, whether that's conditioning, massage, bringing in experts etc.

Alot of the injuries was breaks and no matter how much science is attributed to this...you cant prevent a breakage. i m sure AP will announce what is being done in due course...he is rather busy assembling a squad 1st.

There is far more to preventing injuries than just having an experienced physio. Yes there is conditioning, warm up / down, etc etc which would ordinarily involve the head phys.

But are we training correctly, playing to how we train. Is the set up correct, are we playing within the rules.
Are we giving payers enough rest between sessions, sending out players that are not 100% fit.

Is the diet correct, are we supplying players with the correct clothing, supports for training / playing.

There has to be a huge strategic overhaul to pinpoint what we are doing right / wrong and then work smart to address the issues.

I would expect that AP has discussed with consultants and SM, PG & AH have been involved at some level.

A lot of this has to do with PG and how he is strategising / structuring he above.

That said, we are through the season going to pick up injuries so we have to be prospective as well as retrospective.

I'd hope so, otherwise we'd be cheating.

A "huge strategic overall" is a bit dramatic. Our best SL finish in 5 seasons and IMO our conditioning didn't look far off the pace, if at all.

Maybe not worded correctly, are we ensuring we stick to the game plan / not bending the rules & not taking unnecessary chances & leaving others exposed which puts extra pressure on others to cover. We have to accept that invariably we will concede points but not panic when this happens. Usually this stretches players, tires them and then become more susceptible to injury when game commences.

Totally agree with your comments re finish & conditioning however I would expect nothing less than a thorough investigation into how this can / could be improved by AP.

The team did stop over in a hotel before the playoff game against Warrington not sure if this is going to become the norm though.

Quote: berro's best mate "my pass will be bought, but not until deadline day im afraid..having £270 go out my account weeks before its needed is no good to me, for all i know my boiler could pack in and the repair bill would be huge.... fc will get my cash on the 27th oct....

i dont see the logic of ending the debit scheme either. surely if they ran it all year then fc would have a steady income of cash every month from people who cant afford a lump sum or even £43 per month...over 12 months passes would be little short of £10 a month...... a more logical price for some given the current economical climate etc... then youd basically be a year in front..'"

Quote: berro's best mate "The ideas about spreading the cost of the pass with a DD over a longer period is a good idea, 200+ quid is a lot of money to lay out over the Xmas period, Rovers are still doing the 3 month term DD but even that could be extended and as was said earlier would give clubs more monthly revenue.'"

I suspect the reason a 12 month DD scheme hasn't been offered is because the cards would then be handed over before they've been fully paid for, which could open the possibility of DDs then being cancelled & the club out of pocket. I wonder if there might ever be the possibility of a DD scheme starting in the new year, leaving just a balancing payment at this time of year once the prices are decided. Problem with is whether or not people are likely to commit before knowing the renewal price or their financial situation for the year.

We dont know how sophisticated the new scanning system is but while I agree with you if some-one did cancel their DD the card would be cancelled. I pay a DD Monthly at Total Fitness and if this happened I would expect not to gain entry. Simple admin me thinks.

Now we're using the automated system if that happens the club just need to suspend the card until it's paid for and they won't be able to get in the ground anyway.
