We've only failed to sign Chase according to who the club has said we have been after, the rest could be all made up by people who claim to be in the know, so I suggest we wait and see.

Given how close we were to finishing in the top 4, and that we were competitive in the playoffs the squad doesn't need a radical overhaul to achieve the next step. Players like Watts and Pitts will be better for a full pre-season with us, the competition in the 3/4's that Arundal and Crookes give us in addition to the signings of Ellis & Holdsworth means we have improved.
We're probably going to sign McDonell (who's better than Horne at FB) and the club are obviously looking to sign another halfback. We're going to be a lot stronger next year.

I have to say that with the exception of Ellis, I am underwhelmed by our recruitment so far. It’s not in line with the quality that AP consistently alluded to in all his interviews. All our signings have been from teams that finish lower than us in the competition with the exception of Pitts. He was surplus to requirement by the current champions so hardly a coup. My point being these are not players use to winning or being in a winning culture and I’m not convinced at all they are going to upgrade us to a top two super league side. When you couple this average recruitment drive with the loss of Manu and Moa and then you have to say we are on course for yet another season of mediocrity. When you hear us looking to resign McGoldrick and Aspinwall then you do have to ask yourself are they really going to take us to the next level? AP should be commended for the off field work and resources he has put into the club but whoever is in charge of recruitment has failed in the main imo. Why the club feel the need to keep saying things that don’t turn out to actually happen, I don’t know. What happened to the two signings a week as stated on the website or two of the best half backs in the league? False promises and another false dawn for Hull FC. The AP and PG can do no wrong club need to wake up and have a dose of reality.

Ellis is a massive signing, Holsworth is slightly better than what you had, but the rest are mediocre and won't really improve your first choice 17.

A successful 2013 will depend on whether you get another decent half in. Without one, you'll be floating around 5th/6th again next year.

Chase would have been perfect. Atleast you know that there's a chunk of cap space, that was put aside for Chase, going spare.

That cap space may well be Seymour’s wage after he was paid off, so we may not have as much space as we all think.

It was mentioned by PG that we had a backup plan for Chase, which I guess is what we are working on now. It needs to be a marquee signing though as for me Ellis is our only marquee signing for 2013 and pass sales will continue to stall unless the club match the ambition they keep talking to us about. So far they are no were near that in the names they have signed up so far.

I’ve been told that Thomas Leuluai is that that backup plan. After he signed with NZ warriors and they dumped their coach, he has been in limbo and wants assurances of first team football which he can’t get at the moment as they have no coach signed up. With the link with his Dad and the club I think he is an obvious target.

I am inclined to agree with you. At present the signings we have made will probably secure our status as a 5/6 place club. However those expecting us to challenge the top 4 with the recruitment we have made are going to be disappointed imo. I still have faith in the current regime but in future they need to be a little bit more considered when dealing with the press, AP made some statement’s that the club are clearly finding difficult to fulfil. Expectations have been built and a bit of backlash from some quarters is now being suffered as a result.

Manu and Moa will be big losses but when you consider Moa played less than half the season and we've brought in Ellis, we haven't finished our recruitment for next year so don't understand why people are getting so worked up about it.
