Fair point but just checked over the last couple of seasons and nothing much in their try assist totals, my point being both produce the goods in that dept.

| Dobsons got a much better kicking game but can go missing and doesn't have that running game and X factor Chase has. He plays in more games than Chase but I would say from what I have seen Chase is the better defender.
Both are the same age (26).
All irrelevant anyway, Dobsons not coming here.

Dobson will work better in a structured attack. I'd prefer Chase, but we'd need someone with a good kicking game alongside him.

| A decent coach would place Dobson in the defensive line surrounded by players who can make up for his shortcomings.
That's the problem.

Well tbf we will have to do that with Chase as well if we get him, and to be honest I am confident we will be fine with it as Gentle is big on defense so it should work well in our team, interestingly I have noticed that Gentle is also keen for the lads to throw the ball about in the opposition 25 more than we have done all season, Gentle has set the scene for some exciting rugby at the club imo.

I reckon we will get the kicking game from Holdsworth, mind I have noticed Heriamia has a fairly decent boot on him as well.

A bit of support for the fact that you have signed Holdsworth tucked away in this Manchester Evening News article, you may all have seen it and it is by no means definitive, just seems to reflect that Salford are resigned to it!

"Hull FC continue to be linked with Reds’ Aussie play-maker Daniel Holdsworth, who is under contract for the 2013 campaign. Reds expect Holdsworth to honour the terms of his existing deal and any move to Hull for the former Bulldogs player before then would have to involve a transfer fee."

| I didn't say Dobson was the worst defender in SL, just a terrible one. He often goes missing and as evidenced on Friday night, is prepared to shout at people for missing tackles.
No thank you. Would rather keep Goldie, he's an awful kicker but defensively sound and knows how to open a defence.
Our problem is that when we get into an opponents 20, we are feckin' clueless. We need someone with a touch of magic to do that.
Oh, and in defence of Longy, he was only ever a great scrum half when paired with Tommy Martyn.

Its a shame the other thread was locked "Dobbo never did this to anyone"
Who was that? the innocent guy from Normanton who Ben Cockaine did over?

I'd agree with that, Dobson actually makes the majority of tackles he's in place for, where he looks bad is the shed loads of times you see him reaching out grabbing for a collar or usually thin air, because he's left himself too much ground to make up.

| Heard a strong rumour the new sponspor for SL next season will also be our shirt sponsor next season. Also ISC will not be the kit supplier next season it will be Nike it will be their first foray into Rugby League gear.
Dobson is seemingly quite a possibility I am led to believe and Horney possibility he may join his brother at Rovers or retire.
How much truth is in the above I'm not sure but from where I heard it from its not often they give much info but when they do its pretty accurate.

I struggle to assimilate our lack of cutting edge in the opponents' 20 with McGoldrick knowing how to open a defence consistently enough. He is not good enough to be a first choice halfback in a team who want to win things, and to think he's better than Dobson because he can make a few tackles is madness IMO.
Also, Long was excellent with Pryce, too.
