Which he now owns. And can use again. People invest in equipment for their businesses all the time, and they recoup that cost over the lifetime of the equipment, not in one day.
Besides, if he's having to sell tickets to limit numbers, one assumes his pub is going to be packed at a time it would otherwise be not quite so packed. He'll make a lot more money than if he hadn't bought the gear and will still have the gear for future use.

It's 5 quid to watch a game you otherwise wouldn't be able to see, trust me I'd pay a tenner to watch any Hull game live on tv.
He's running a business, he has over heads and has to make a profit (there's not many in the pub game) it's supply and demand.'"
Why try to justify it, if you don't give a to$$. Obviously there's demand, but there's ways to justify it. If you do it for one game, then you should do it for every high profile sports event you expect to be busy for. HTH.

“We will not accept a top eight finish as a barometer of supposed success at any point in the future whilst I am the owner of this club.
Thats why you got the Bullet Agar...Adam Pearson wants winners...not useless gits like you.

| Have to 2 live matches before in Clarence and didnt hesitate to pay Ian a £5 to get in and watch it...he has gone to the trouble to get the gear in and if he wants to boost his takings then i havent got a problem with it at all.

All i'm seeing is people and moan for no reason.
It's the only pub showing the game in Hull, Hull are a club which get's an average of over 11,000 every game.
It's not at every pub or on your tv at home, the demand would easily out way the supply.
He's saying if you can't get a ticket don't bother queuing.
Sure he's making a few quid but he's a business!!!!!
I like a moan but ffs.

| It's £5 ffs! If it really bothers you that much just have 2 fewer pints while you there. If he sells all the tickets he's obviously priced it right. Nobody is being exploited or discriminated against. I'll assume most of the moaners won't be applying for a spot on the apprentice in the near future as the point of a business is to make money. He has gone out of his way to provide a service that no other pub in Hull is doing and apparently he should be doing this for free? Get a grip.

Well, quite, but potential customers (or regular customers in FC Guvnor's case), have the right to say whether they think that business is profiteering.

He eats they're because the food, service and value is the best he's found.
He can still still eat there on saturday, maybe a hour or 2 earlier and he can by a ticket to watch his favorite club play live in the only pub showing it.
For an extra 5 quid. Fucking bargain.

Isn't all business profiteering at the end of the day? You also have the added bonus of not having to listen to Eddie/Stevo and co during the game, a bargain.

Of course it is. And part of being a customer is to express an opinion about the services a business offers, and the cost/value for money thereof.

He's gone out of his way to do it because he'll make a shed load of cash from it, not out of some sense of altruism. The point the 'moaners' are making is that he'll make plenty of money from booze at a time when he would otherwise have been a lot quieter, and he'll still have the satellite equipment to use for future events. He probably will shift all the tickets - finding a couple of hundred people willing to pay a fiver out of a fanbase of 11,000 shouldn't be that difficult, but that doesn't mean it's reasonable to charge people a fiver to get into a pub.

All businesses aim to make profit. There's a subtle difference between that and profiteering, though.

Five quid to watch Hull for 2 hours or 10% of your wages to listen to some boring child molester tell you about something that can't be proven?
In that context it's a ing bargain.

He does? Do you know that for sure? He might eat there (like I do at my local Italian) because it's within walking distance of his home and he doesn't have to drive/get a taxi. Besides, why he eats there is irrelevant. He still has the right to express an opinion on the matter as a regular customer of the business.
Quote: Sheldon "He can still still eat there on saturday, maybe a hour or 2 earlier and he can by a ticket to watch his favorite club play live in the only pub showing it.

Well, the underlined part is open to debate. I don't consider £5 to get into a pub (for whatever reason) to be a bargain.

In that context, paying £100 to see Westlife would be a bargain!
