60404_1375165563.png Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and proudly proclaiming `Wow, what a ride`:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_60404.png |

| Quote: Rugby Raider "Elland Road, 1982 for me.
The two runaround tries in three minutes from Kemble and Topliss just before half time were immense.
Our night, felt that all the ground was full of FC fans.
It WAS......
82 game v Aussies,
80 semi final at Swinton against Widnes. the most away following apart from finals that I`ve ever seen.
The three semi`s against Cas in the 90`s.
Last game of season 78/79 when we had gone unbeaten, fantastic noise all the way through. The threepenny stand was so loud my mam couldn`t hear her mate talking on the hill at Ailie street it was so loud she said.
Loads of other games that make the hair on my neck stand up.
Games at Leeds always up there, Wigan also.

| If we're talking memorable rather than enjoyable what about the 70odd point thumping we took at Bradford a few years back and last years playoff game against Leeds both memorable for all the wrong reasons.
I know it's a cliche but on the positive it's got to be the challenge cup win for me.
Does anyone else remember the fan wandering around with a snake in a bag. I mean that literally it's not a euphemism for something else!

Suprisingly for me it is actually a loss...
When we played the all conquering Wigan side in the challenge cup at the Boulevard in 94, I remember having a healthy lead possibly 19-2 at one stage and dreaming of putting an end to the run they were on, i believe we even turned down a 2 pointer to extend the lead at one point.Of course that came back to prove crucial as Wigan got away with a 21-22 Victory.
I remember a big crowd and a terrific atmosphere at The Boulevard that day and ive Just looked up the archive of it and looking through the sides you wouldnt of thought that Hull side would get anywere near Wigan infront of 11k fans that day.
Ironically they came back to the Boulevard a month Later and we Turned them Over 18-4.'"
That game goes down as the most gutted I have ever felt after a game!

final 2005 not a lot more to say about that game
2006 saints away iirc
My favourites were Sheffield at home to stay up after a great FC road trip to Blackpool for the weekend
For some bizarre reason, I really had a great time in the 71-0 away against bradford, I remember the atmos being brilliant, probably as we drank the bars dry!

Seb, you might need to add at least 10 years to your "length of service"
For me the ones that really stick out,
Good Friday 1983, hammering rovers 21-3 in a title decider.
1988 Wigan in the last play of the game with a length of the field try finished off by Paul McAfffery. (just before the 2 semi final games)
1988, Good Friday, beating rovers 21-14 at the old CP with a patched up team (just after the 2 semi finals)
1991 Premiership final.
The promotion game at Huddersfield 31-18. Massive turn out!
Beating St's 27-26 in 2006 at KR

The Halifax semi's were shocking 160 mins without scoring a try. Can't recall seeing another 0-0. I remember a 3-2 against Warrington Greg Mackey.
My most memorable was the last minute maccaffrey try against a starstudded Wigan side.

| Hunslet last game of the '79 season, ground was electric and even though I was only 10 remember the feel of the atmosphere and Chaz going over from close range
Cas at home when kemble & O'hara first played, memorable cos it was glorious sunshine, we scored 42 points (Cas 24 I think) O'Hara got a punctured lung or some serious injury
'82 final as I managed to get a seat with my school (£22 all in) we had a meal and sat on the wooden benches close to the touchline
'82 replay memorable for all the wrong reasons (
Last game of he championship winning year when all the players did the haka (well sort of did it including Bunting)
'83 CC final cos we sung the place down even though we'd lost so very dissapointed
'85 final as it was my first time to a final on my todd and got bevvied up on the train without buying a single drink...remember the Hull fans with several carrier bags full of cans getting stopped outside the ground and they were going to drink all of them rather have to lose them..lmfao
I missed all but a few games in the 90s being away from Hull
last game I saw at the Boulevard beating Wigan in 2001, gutted not being able to get down for the NZ game
Semi at Hudds against Saints in 2005, the most complete performance I think I've seen from us, the final was very emotional for me.
Saints comeback

| Most memorable was probably the last game at the boulevard vs the kiwis. The chorus of old faithful from the threepenny stand when the legends came onto the pitch before the game was a memory i'll never forget. Obviously CC semi final/final in 05 are right up there as well, that semi final game was probably the best display i've ever seen from a Hull FC side. There was a game against Leeds at the boulevard that I also remember well, think we won 38-6, Jason Smith was incredible he tore Calderwood to shreds that night.

The old board get a lot of stick, but everyone involved with staging the last Boulevard game with NZ deserves credit. It was a perfect choice of opposition, and the pre-match stuff with the FC legends etc was spot-on. Also loved how the NZ team got in to the swing of things by giving each stand a Haka at the end of the game. Magical night.
