I think there must be more to this than meets the eye, as there is no real benefit to 'paying him off' now instead of at the end of the season. If one of the forwards got a long-term injury, even with Watts arriving he would have got a game.

Also with him and McKinnon gone, we must surely have a lot of spare cap left, even with Pitts and Watts arriving.

we had 60k at the start of the season, we brought in Pitts and Radford, lost McKinnon, signed Russell and Watts and now O'Carrolls gone.

I am amazed on just how many players have been axed or gone while still under contract since Pearson bought the club. I know PG wants his own team but this is just ruthless as he only wants players that fit his style and it seems he wants them now. It took Agar 4 years to say he had his own team, it looks like PG will have his in a season. Pearson and Hull really do mean business.

Paying him off now will give us more room on the cap for next season.

Frankly, we can't afford to wait any longer. So be it.

Think Hull have jumped at the opportunity to terminate a ludicrously long deal with a very injury prone player.

Looks like a determined and positive moves to me we all knew wholesale changes are needed and Pearson Gentle and McRae will be judged on this acation. Gentle said we were short in the front row already so things must have moved on if we are to get rid of another prop. Sadly lets face it he didn't make an impact or a change in the game when he came off the bench as we all saw at Wakey really we all have to admit to that if were honest. Whether we like it or not O'Meley always did! perhaps its for the best and perhaps the prop we have been after from France has come off!

The one odd thing is that he's gone with immediate effect and yet hasn't had a meeting with Bomber yet to sort out the details. Looks a little cart-before-horse, doesn't it?
