| I wouldn't read the Daily Star never mind anything Garry Schofield says. He's a bitter 'has been' who thinks the world owes him something by default.

We already have a ready made replacement for Turner who played last night. As for schofield, he had a right go about McKinnon leaving on his Twitter, which was uncalled for.The bloke just talks rubbish to get a reaction.

| Seriously, he's not worth bothering about, waste of space really and a "pundit" who is not highly regarded, and a failed coach at every level. That why he's writing for a fun rag like the Star. He really does not know what's going on at our club and this article really proves that.
Another writer could argue perfectly factually that :
- Our youth policy is now blossoming faster than any at the club thought possible after years of neglect.....
- Swain and Kearney were instrumental in our last major trophy win which came shortly after the departure of talisman Jason Smith....
- Seymour really ran the show for Hull Fc against the "World Champions" and is getting better and more influential with every game he plays.....
- Gareth Ellis has played the best Rugby of his career over the last 2 season and one should look at the video montage to see that his game breaking abilities are a match for his well known workhorse qualities.....
-Wests Tigers fans have been singing the praises of Ellis fitness levels and his almost ever presence in the Tigers line up over 3 seasons, and say his recent loss due to freak injury is instrumental in the mediocre start made by last years Grand finalists.....
- Mr Pearson stated that Ellis has now signed for FC, noting, "we were not the highest bidders for his signature" . To date the fee for the man regarded by many "down under" as the best back rower in the world has not been disclosed....
- When true world class players arrive at a club, usually on a high wage, one would expect them to be a catalyst for success, bringing standards of performance that others aspire too. The thought that any world class player would bring disharmony to a dressing room is right out of left field. Just ask Jamie Lyon, Peter Sterling, Brett Kenny, Danny Buderus, Trent Barrett et al, ....
GS could have written all of the above, but he didn't, either he's not actually in the know, or he's not very bright, or he has a different agenda. Or maybe all 3.

| "Ellis is a workhorse not a gamebreaker"
I think people presume everything Ellis does is off the back of Benji, but his running, sidestep, and passing ability are all off the scale, especially for a forward. Even if he is unlucky with injuries I have no doubt he'll step up when it matters and he's on the pitch

| Haven't Leeds signed Lunt on loan? Why don't they play McShane or Hood there! Schofield is a pr1ck - think I might link him to this thread on twitter

| Schofield, like the man himself these days, is hit and miss. It's his opinions is all. If anyone expected something fully factual then they're seriously naive.
Some of the statements are based on incomplete background information, so they were going to be wide of the mark. Perhaps Schofield hears the same rumours we, the fans, do, perhaps not (that's a Hull thing).
It's true that in the past few years the FC youth mill hasn't fed through as it should, but I think that's changing now, which is all the good.
It's also true that the squad is ageing, but that's changing too due to the new youth recruitment and retention policy we supposedly now have.
The rest of the bile is probably the result of his move from FC, deep scars and all that.

| Having read it, Schofields does make a few good points, but then he ties it in with bunkem. Then he goes and says things like Hull will do nothing in the next couple of season. He seams to court controversial opinion. If he said that Hull are building but this year maybe a year too far for them, it would be a more balanced report. If he noted that Ellis is a quality signing, but that it may have lead to a lack of funds for Manu as well again this would be more balanced.
But he seams to stack the article one way with no accounting for the fact that Manu is of a similar age and every signing is a gamble and that it may payoff for Hull and attract players of equal quality. Lets face it if you have not got Manu then that money that was offered to him will be available for someone else. So tell any player that his 2nd row partner will be Ellis and that should help attract more players.

| Just an awful article. Why do people still pay this man to write in newspapers?! There was a thread on TotalRL.com at the start of the week slagging off his disrespect of the work put into Southern RL. He just has a huge agenda and aims at getting a negative reaction. He'll think that the reaction makes him a good journalist, but it's bloody easy to get a negative reaction. Just make a racist or sexist comment and boom.
The Ellis thing, whilst I don't agree in the slightest, he can have his opinion there. It has happened at places in the past that a high earner has upset the dressing room and we can't say otherwise until it's happened or not. I very much doubt it will. His theory about signing aging players but not retaining Manu being a huge loss is very contradictory though!
The rest however is just utter infactual rubbish. Last decent overseas player was Smith? A shocking lack of research there. I hope Richard Swain wasn't reading, as that is very disrespectful to the years he put in here.
Seymour is poor? Has he been watching this season?!
Slagging off the chairman about our overseas signings for this season? They didn't sign them!
Who are all these aging players? There are a handful at the back end of their career admittedly, but that's it. Our youth has suffered due to KH's cost cutting/money grabbing. Now that it's going again, we've had Nicklas, Bowden, Kent, Green, Lyne and Crooks play this year already (as well as Ellis and Russell). Last year, we only played Lyne. Our youth policy has changed. Give it a few seasons and we will hopefully have the depth to match Leeds and Wigan.
All in all, it's Gary Schofield. What did you really expect? Something interesting?!
