Yeah, but at twice the price.

| Quote: barton baird "Out of interest, how many Engage trucks did we see flying along motorways?'"
Similarly how many stobart customers are made directly aware of RL via their product? Engage as a mutual society have 500,000 customers of all ages all over the UK. RL will have been on most of the literature if not splashed over the brochures for potential customers too along with their community initiatives also.
Sure, over a long period the trucks may well have a wider exposure but that will still only be a few seconds fleeting glance at what is just another truck (when you're mainly focusing on what you're doing or the road conditions ahead) It seems to be scant in terms of direct impact. Was there even any national press on the matter seeing how Stobart's are/were in the public consciousness?
I'm not saying it is a really bad deal for RL but it isn't pulling up any trees for mine and the whole last minute deal just seems amateur at best.

| The taking of the deal has nothing to do with the RFL, it was the clubs who voted for it.
And I've read somewhere that the value of the advertising is £2million, so we've got good value for money from them, as well as the ability to add new sponsors for things that the title sponsor has previously had, such as the deal with Heinz Big Soup announced yesterday.
And anyway, the 750k split between 14 clubs is 53 grand each, it would hardly make a difference to them, instead of increasing the Sky deal in future, as well as any potential club sponsorships and additional sponsorships from the RFL.

| I had a tin of Heinz Big Soup last night, not a mention of rugby league anywhere. Similarly, no mention of the game anywhere on the case of Magners I bought.
I'm amazed the RFL bother paying professional marketeers, when we have such a wealth of free talent, readily on tap on these very boards.

I'm quite interested in all the people claiming that Engage promoted the game on their literature, they didn't.
And I simply love the massive FC flag on the side of the P&O fer....oh, hang on.

While I do see your point to an extent, both the above companies contributed actual cash sponsorship to the RFL and HFC. Stobart aren't. Their only contribution is advertising, and therefore the amount of advertising is a relevant issue.

Indeed. Not only a relevant issue but the key issue IMO. Comparing other sponsors' advertising (who have paid hard cash to be associated with the sport of RL or teams who play it) with the Stobart deal is a bit like comparing apples and pears, or maybe Heinz beans and spaghetti hoops.

My guess would be that it will likely bring what's been set out in the contract - i.e. advertising on a very small percentage of the Stobart fleet. I think it's perfectly reasonable to question the value of that advertising.

The ferries that depart from Hull all have a framed, signed FC shirt hung up in their entrances. It's pretty much the first thing people see when entering the ship.
I used to deal with Engage quite alot up at their offices in Harrogate. In their receptions were lifesized cardboard cutouts of Superleague players, again, the first thing you saw as you walked in.

I have a CTF through Engage, and their paperwork certainly had the Superleague logo on and some blurb
