This is the perfect opportunity for Mr Gentle to show us what he's made of. Mike Burnett had all the making of a star of the future when he played his first SL games imo. It appears that off-field discipline (if rumours are to be believed) and a run of niggling injuries put paid to that. However, it could also be that Richard Agar really did not keep faith in him and so his career floundered. Let's see what faith in youth can do for Bam Bam.

Burnett is a penalty machine, he is not good enough and will stop another youngster coming through. Our top players will go soon as our signings are dreadful. Gentle will be under pressure straight away. Especially warringinton and catalans first two gamers

Will his wage just be covered by the little bit extra cap space we get from him being home-grown? Bomber said that we aren't getting the full £100,000 with our squad, so surely signing up another Hull lad increases the amount we can get extra on the cap?

I thought Burnett's main problem was giving away too many penalties. In theory, that should be the easiest and fastest thing for a player to put right, so here's hoping Gentle can help him do so and we'll have a relatively cheap squad member to add a bit of depth. It also probably brings the added bonus of giving him and Aspinwall further reason to impress next season, because I'd expect both of them to be competing for 1 available contract the year after.

pleased for mike,he just never made that step up to first team rugby for whatever reason,i think a year at quins playing regular rugby will of done him the world of good and gentle will give him a chance and just may get the best out of him,welcome back

I'm not overwhelmed with the signing, but I do feel better knowing the squad has another experienced backrower.
As others have said, he is still young enough to improve into a good SL player.

Good move by FC taking advantage of the rule change to give Mike more opportunity. hope he does well.

I always thought of him as steady not spectacular but not seen him play for a while so lets see what he's got.

Another player with a point to prove and try and earn another contract, I like that a lot.

If we've got him on a low wage than it is a good deal, he will offer squad cover, while at the same time he will know that he has to impress or he will struggle to get another SL club.

That's how I see it.

Three signings in a row that are a little uninspiring though.

For me, the least uninspiring. It's always good to see another Hull lad in the team, he's young and he's got a hell of a lot to prove. I was watching the Quins home game yesterday and thought he did well from what I saw. He's going to be back up and if he doesn't progress, I have every faith in Gentle to play the younger players.

pleased we have give him another year he went out to quinns to play and improve himself ,we will see if it worked ,i think we should do it more often lending players out to gain SL exsperience or championship,thats the real problem with the rugby in this country our 2nd grade comp is very poor and not the step required to play SL ,the toyota cup comp in Aussy is nearly as competative as our SL i would rather give Mike another chance instead of signing the guy from cas last week good move the club anyway and welcome back mike hope you have a great year and earn another contract
