Saints in particular. IMO this is in part due to their big name players like Graham, Roby, Puletua really stepping up and leading from the front when they have several young player in and almost protecting them.

| Our catchment area is massive compared to ever other yorkshire club as we only have to compete with one other super league team for youngsters as nobody is coming over and stealing them afaik whereas the likes of for instance leeds have so much more competition but can still bring players through every year,
i'm guessing its worse for the lancastrians so why we haven't had more hull born first teamers in the last few years i don't know.

I have said for a while now that we need a complete clearout not just a new head coach. Lasty can build a good reserve side but is he actually developing players? Then in the first team is Agar actually developing their skills?
We should have one system of play and this should be replicated at all age groups so young players can step into the first team and not look out of place and know their roles.

I know it may sound odd however at 20's results don't mean a thing and as you say the 20's should be singing from the same hymn sheet as the first team and players positions should be based upon where they will be playing for the first team too.
A change that I would like to see though is having the foundation sides coaches coming from outside of the Hull region so the players are getting viewed with a blank slate instead of any preconceived ideas.

Yeah results are largely irrelevant, player development is the key.

| I've been saying this for a long time. I don't believe the area doesn't produce the quality of player to make it in SL (and higher).
Amazing that the last time we really saw any decent youngsters come through in sufficient numbers was the last time we had a coach who knew what he was doing. If only we had someone with a genuine knowledge of the game as CEO rather than a marketeer then we may get somewhere

Sorry but you're wrong, whilst the catchment area is 20% physically larger, the East Riding is one of the least populated areas in the country(with a big city in it for sure).
With about 600K compared to well over 2.2 million in the West Riding area alone. That doesn't even take into account those towns in South and North Yorkshire on the fringes of West Yorkshire which are not too distant in terms of available catchment area. Most of the population of the Yorkshire teams is very concentrated and within fairly short distances. The effective catchment population for the Hull teams is a lot less than the populous itself due to distance alone.
In fact it is predicted that the amount of youngsters living in the East riding area will drop considerably in the next 25 years, much so than in other areas around the UK.
I'd consider that a distinct disadvantage.

You have been anti change for the last 3 and half seasons
BTW , we have had a clear out apart from Last and Agar. Agarr sees to it we lose asst coaches regularly as well.
We need a Brian Smith type world class coach who can turn average into good and good to great.
I have said that for 3 and half seasons as I knew Agar was not good enough for the job. I saw his half time team talk on RL Raw when he was at York Knights , enough said.

The Rugby Football League are in the process of reviewing the video that you are referring to. We do not condone behaviour of this nature and have contacted the player’s employer, Hull F.C., who have confirmed that they are dealing with the incident under their club rules.

| Brian Smith? He's hardly working wonders with the Roosters is he, although he's getting on well with the Carney family.
Look were the new coaches are coming from and look there.

Sheldon , I am referring to the impact he had when younger , like his younger brother. When he was at Hull he worked wonders with a young local lads etc I do not mean take him back but take on a figure like him who can do that. Tony Smith would have been ideal and then maybe we would have won 2 CCs at Wembley

| Sorry bud I didn't see the 'type'.
But your right Tony Smith would have been ideal.
If you look at the latest crop of young coaches coming through, Maguire and Kearney spring to mind, they were both under Bellamy at the Storm, is there anyone else there who's got a good record with youngsters?

Spot on mate at the quiz night on thursday we had a player from he under 20's on our table and he said there's no chance of getting a game. Said Agar is a good coach but his man management is terrible.

| A decent coach would have helped Will Sharp become a better player rather than just ditch him (having signed him as a frontline winger!). I also seem to recall Reece Lyne getting the big build up in the Hull Daily Mail, starting a game and then being taken off at halftime never to be seen again. Can't remember which game it was though. Contrast that to Richie Myler who did it tough under Tony Smith last season but has been much better for it this year. Therein lies the difference.
