It might be that they've had a lot of people trying to pull a fast one and so have tightened up the rules. You wouldn't believe what some folk try to get away with when returning stuff to shops. Sounds like they've been told to strictly apply the receipt rule so the guy couldn't exchange your shirt even though he knew you'd bought it there. Might have been worth asking to speak to the manager? He'd have had more leeway.
Shame if that's what's happened and could be a policy that costs more than it saves in the long run.

Ahh so you are quite happy to fleece retailers but want to moan when a retailer actually stick to their policy.

I remember a local alcy taking a tin of beans back to the local spar shop where i live to get a refund,as the tin was all dented!! The best thing was that the tin was a co-op one,and 11 months out of date!! We later found him trying to scrounge 46p from people,in the street, to make up what he had,so he could buy his white star cider..........

Not at all, i think you've missed my point... I said that to JJB to find out their policy, i have no intention of actually taking it back there.
I just wanted to see if their service was better.. It is.. And more to the point they said they can return to the manufacturer for defects so FC are just being petty!!

I know mate, i see your point and if you do look at my posts you'll see that i'm normally very positive even at the worst times.
I didn't want to start a thread just to say something bad so this seemed the most appropriate place to say my bit!!
I do acknowledge it's a great achievement but at what cost??? Loyal fans now choosing to purchase elsewhere??

| I have both home and away shirts for every season, plus special ones, plus lots of other merchandise, never had to take anything back, I think sometimes people just dont wash them properly some supporters shirts are more grey and white than black and white.

I wash them properly and, without trying to sound funny, i have a high end washing machine designed for sportswear/sponsors etc... I had no peroblem with last seasons home shirt, just this year but my issue, and what i expect, is a level of customer service from the 'retailer'. FC have usually been very good by all acounts but just recently on my personal issues they have been very petty. And i'm a man of principles.
If ANY other business treated me the same way i wouldn't want to deal with them either.

Sounds to me like you'd like FC to get your business but you've been tipped over the edge by a series of disappointing incidents. Might this be the right occasion to user the "tell us" vehicle. I can imagine the directors would be just as disappointed to find that things have come this far for you. It's important that you let them know exactly what they need to do to recover the situation so that you can continue to support the club through their retail arm. If they can match your criteria then you can happily spend your hard-earned on FC merchandise whilst continuing to support the club directly and they keep a valuable customer who is not feeling "valued" at the moment. Both sides could win there. If you are fobbed off with a standard response then you know just how valued you are. I suggest that a post on here letting us know the outcome would make those of us who read it consider carefully where we put our cash in the future.
