| Think Wakefield are dead certs to drop out, their ground plans seem to be the least developed of those in danger. And their signings for 2011 don't look great either...so they can't hope that a strong season on the field will sway the panels decision.
personally I'd like Quins to go though, the crowds get weaker every year, they are getting further away from the playoffs each year, and generally contribute very little.

Still no new ground.......

Bradford have put in some good steps, though, too. I know the stadium plans haven't come off yet, but they did seem (at one point) to have more substance than Wakey's, but not sure what's going on atm.
The initiatives for season passes seems pretty good, and should do something to improve their recently dwindling crowds.
As for onfield performances, they've signed a few good players for the next season (although, admittedly their biggest problem is the ongoing Orford saga), and a good new coach and coaching team should see a big improvement on their league position.
Not sure about their finances, I'll let Mrs. B handle that one.
As for "just them and Rovers", I know that Sts, Cas and Salford all have their plans approved/underway, but I didn't think Wakefield did yet.....?
And, tbf to Rovers, their stadium isn't stellar, but apart from the infamous away stand, it isn't /that/ bad.

| Whether Wakey get planning permission or not, I reckon it's too little, too late for Red Hall and the rest of Superleague.
There seem to have been promises of a new ground since they entered SL. Their recent court dates with HMRC hardly suggest a stable financial footing and judging by their recent recruitment, they are preparing for life outside Superleague already.

| Not sure why people are so certain Hull KR are safe. Their ground's poor as are their finances, they're in the same City as a bigger Rugby club and crowds whilst pretty average have showen no growth from the year they finished 8th to their most succesful year for decades when they finished 4th. Coupled with been in the super league 5 years and still taking the mick with the overseas players situation and seemingly less and less people travelling away with them (that's just a guess based on what i've seen on TV, no concrete informationa behind that).
With all that been said though, I feel certain Wakey will go.

Quote: Ian P " I do not think that having a new stadium being built or being given planning permission will make any diffference. As far as I understand the rules of the game, they are judged early next year and they can only include what is in place then. I mean how can they mark an unbuilt stadium or gauge crowd size in relation to capacity. The Saints one might be interesting, what do you use Knowsley rd for this season or the Stobart stadium they will use next ?
If you use the SL formula and mark all the points off correctly and honestly you end up with one club clearly at the bottom. Now bringing one up also has its own set of problems with contending clubs each with there own merits and using the very same SL tick list it also point to one club.
This is the rugby league we are talking about here and unless some one throws themselves out by going bust, then is Wakey for down and Widnes coming up.'"
Not quite. Depends on what you need to do to "satisfy the RFL".
www.therfl.co.uk/licensing/licensing_faqs
"New stadiums or redevelopments of existing stadiums will only be taken into account if the RFL is satisfied that the stadium will be open or the redevelopment finished by the start of the 2012 season."
Clubs are assessed on criteria in 5 key areas:
a. Commercial, Marketing, Media and Community.
b. Facilities.
c. Finance.
d. Governance and Business Management.
e. Playing Strength and Player Performance Strategy.
Clubs that meet all of the A Grade criteria across the 5 areas will be awarded an A Grade licence. Clubs that materially meet all the A Grade criteria and/or satisfy the RFL that they will meet the criteria in the next round of licensing will be awarded a B Grade licence.
The RFL will then allocate the remaining Super League licences to those existing Super League clubs and/or Championship clubs which applied for a licence and met the Championship Club Minimum Criteria. The licenses will be allocated to those clubs that the RFL board believes are the most suitable, taking into account the:
a. Extent to which each club helps meet the SLE Strategy and the strategic aims and objectives of the Licensing process;
b. Historical activity of the clubs under consideration; and
c. RFL’s reasonable opinion as to future performance of the clubs under consideration.

Who's to say it'll be either of those 3? 2015 is 5 years down the line, so that's a lot of time for things to happen to clubs, performance wise and financially. Could, and probably will be, a totally different ball game by that time.

| Last time I said Wakey shouldn't get a franchise even tho I like going to Bell Vue, and my opinion hasn't change, infact Wakey are in a worse state than when last franchising.

| I can't see past Wakey regardless of getting permission for the ground or not. It's a shame for them but they seem to be in a bit of bother and Widnes might not be the best team in NL1 but they have the facilities.

| I remember after the awards in 2009 something about only being able to drop one grade every three years.
So, Hull, as a Grade A holder, could as a minimum be granted a Grade B licence this time, a Grade B club could only drop to a C - therefore am I right in concluding that the only clubs which could be outed are those with a previous award of a C Grade?
I'm certain that people were saying that our Grade A licence guaranteed us a place for the next 9 years, back in 2009. Or has all this gone out of the window with the new criteria?

| I would like to see it extended to 16 clubs with Widnes the shoe in,
I see a problem for Wakefield if both Featherstone and Halifax apply which I'm sure they will.
Has anyone heard anything more about a Scots team?

I'll give you the ground, but if we are thrown out for our finances, so will more than half the existing clubs, leaving a league of about 6 clubs!

Remind me when we finshed 8th. I hardly consider a drop of approx 4% in a recession to be cause for concern on a "Bradford" scale.

I must have slept through an entire season, although I'm sure that's quite possible at the "library"

Indeed. BTW how is Berrigan these days?

You could have just posted the last bit of this sentence and saved yourself a lot of time. You are clearly not on speaking terms with "informationa"
