You can type facts until you're fingers fall off, people will still ignore them and believe BS pm's from people that are gullable enough to believe anything they here from anyone. He needed to have a club before his visa ran out, we didn't have a spot. Simple.

So you had obviously had conversations with him
Wonder if James Rule thinks Dobbo would have being worth it now?

Wow the big mans back....to be expected I suppose!
What happened with Dobson was that we offered around £80,000 as did Wigan, Rovers offered over £100,000 and he went there nothing to do with Visa's I am affraid.

| Extract from Dentists Diary 106 906/05/0icon_cool.gif
'In the previous week there were two clubs in for Dobson, both had offered about the same deal. It is difficult to ascertain in detail what we were offering, but the RL press generally agree that Wigan’s offer was for £40,000 this year and £60,000 next, and ours was around that too. At that time, despite what our local radio station would have you believe, Wigan were favourites, (The agent said this too in the Mail interview) possibly because Nobby was staying!
When the ginger one was injured Rovers stepped in with a six figure bid which was referred back to both ourselves and Wigan, and both clubs pulled out.
Our clubs concern, as I understand it was this, we saw Dobson as a stopgap whilst Horney is injured. The club believe despite all the rumours, that Richard Horne will play again, and if he does, they want to be able to offer him a new contract.
To spend a six figure fee on another scrum half, when we already have Dykes, who when Rich is back, would probably be a bench warmer, would be stupid. It would also make it difficult to then offer Richard a new deal. There are other big irons in the fire, renewal of contracts, and the cap to consider. There is also the well-rehed argument about Tony’s injury and the current importance of Matt Sing to the team. I believe that if the deal had gone through we may have had to sacrifice our winger, to get Dobson, into the club.'
Hindsite is a wonderful thing!

| Personally i think letting Shaun Briscoe go and keeping Motu Tony was the biggest mistake we have made in the last 10 years and we have suffered for it time and time again

You don't just 'release' a player. We'd have needed his permission and we'd have had to find space to pay both him and Dobson. Space we didn't have.
I realise that you're just a sad old troll with your best days behind you, but you really ought to be able to do better.

Agree about Briscoe. Tony, however, should also have been retained to continue playing centre/stand off/hooker. I never understood this Briscoe v Tony debate. The equation should always have been Briscoe + Tony.
The biggest mistake was made by Sharp in trying to mould Tony into a fullback when we already had a specialist. Things went wrong for Motu then. Plus he'd have been valuable cover in those crucial positions where we are now weak.
Was a rumour recently that we are looking to re-sign him?
