| He has us in a good position this season and has recruited well during the offseason leaving us with a good mixture of youth and experience in the squad. Our form has been patchy at times during the season and there are still question marks over the team in the big games and especially away from home.
I have my doubts regarding Agar and his ability to get us to the top but in fairness to him I would have accepted being 4th at this stage of the season.

| I am not an Agar fan nor am I a member of the Agar Out club.
I think it was wrong for him to be given a new contract when he was but nor do I think he should have been sacked when we were having a bad run earlier this season.
There are only two trophies to be won in Rugby League (unless you count the minor premiership - which no-one does). Is any coach who does not win either of those trophies a failure?
What right do we have to win trophies, year in year out? Throughout the Super League era (and long before Agar had anything to do with the club) we have been way, way behind the likes of Saints, Leeds, Wigan and Bradford.
Wigan had a bad few years but now seem to be back. Bradford are clearly on the wane and have been replaced in the top four by Warrington - who have recruited top players over recent years but only now is it starting to pay off.
In the last 5 years we have won the CC and been to the final again and also been in a Grand Final.
Realistically I think all we can reasonably hope for is to be finish in the top 4 and get to a final once every few years and maybe even win something once every few years too.
We need to stop judging ourselves against the achievements of the early 1980s because at the moment I cannot see us picking up trophies with the same frequency as Leeds and Saints have in recent years and that is nothing to do with who coaches us. Many fans will agree that Brian Smith was an excellent coach but we won nothing under his tenure.
Yes our league performances in the last two years were absolutely unacceptable and a more realistic level of what we can and should be achieving is our form in 2005-2007.
We need to accept that Agar is our coach and lets get behind him and the team and lets judge him at the end of the season.

TBF I agree too, although I would hope that we will continue to develop under Agar or whoever, to be a top side that is realistically challenging for honours every year along with Leeds, Saints etc

| Confidence throughout the club is the whole issue. Over the last 2 years confidence has waned from the team and then the supporters. You can feel the trickle of confidence starting to flow through the whole Hull Fc community - still shakey at times but more generally a belief that we can win games.
This is not just the team, we supporters are very loyal but in difficult times can be destructive to the teams confidence, so that at the start of the season the optimism was only wafer thin and easily shattered by 2 very disappointing efforts.
However since Murrayfield I have felt things have changed, on Friday night the anxious silence was replaced by very good vocal support especially when the team needed it.
So in my view Agar has turned things around and the fans sense it. It will take some time for the greater sceptics and perhaps the more outspoken to come round (and they may still be proved right). But if we get behind the team for the rest of the season there is no telling what we can acheive.

| Like most people I thought the timing of the contract extension was a little premature, I thought the club should have hung on while to see how the team progressed, however if they'd have waited and offered him the extension now I do feel that the decision would have been far better received.
We're in a good position at the minute and most people would have taken 4th at the begining of the season. The performances and the togetherness of the team have improved, some of this is certainly down to players returning from injury but Agar must also get some credit for the turnaround.

| Not a big Agar fan as you can probably tell And when the chips are down and the injuries hit he leaves a lot to be desired. I know every team struggles when injuries strike but the fact we could not get even the basics right with fringe players is very worrying indeed.
Again motivation seems to be lost when the 'big' players are out and it really should not be down to the big players to motivate the side but the coach. We have improved over the last few weeks and seem to be turning a corner, however you learn more about a coach when the problems start happening.
Also the fact Webster has taken on the assistant coach job as we started to turn things around is not lost on me either. I am a long way from being a supporter of Agar so will play a wait and see game.

It was and the fact it came after the shocking Salford defeat didn't help, it would have been much better adter that weekend when we beat Rovers and gave Warrington a good game with lots of players missing.
I also still dont think it should have been a 2 year deal, one year and better timing would have meant not nearly half of the hysterics on here (including me)

Why do all anit-Agar fans do that? When things are going right they always look for another reason as to why rather than give praise to the coach. Yet when things are going wrong it's cut and dried as 100% Agar's fault.
Not having a pop, just an observation.

I never said it was down to Webster i said the fact was not lost on me. The pro Agar crowd are quick to point out that the winning streak we went on in 06 was down to Agar even though he only took over for 3/4 matches.

You are right Paul, we are doing well on "Agars watch" my issue is historic (being told the team before the press via text) we are 4th, and that is great with the number of average players we have, credit to Agar.
