I think he has the ability to be superb; but whe was the last time he consistently performed toa world class standard for us? It's sad to see a local lad with talent be dragged down by our mediocrity. I'm warming to the idea of him at Leeds; let him fulfill his potential! |

Can't see any other club matching his salary and compensating the loss of his testimonial.

The idea isn't, just ask Horne, Diskin, Wellens or Crabtree.
Players can apply for one after 300 first team games regardless of appearances for a single club, IIRC. |

By outdated I mean it is from another era; where players had day jobs and played for boot money ona weekend; where the testimonial was a way of saying thanks and giving them some cash to ease them into being without their supplementary income. Seems an anachronism in these days of well paid professional players. |

I understand that but a 12 month series of events topped off by a testimonial game is still a very nice money spinner. Whether players should still be awarded them is another matter of course. |
