| Quote: The Hollywood Frasier "Rovers 18's had the better individual players i thought. Sheriff and their 6 were the best 2 players on the pitch.
At 16's and 15's it wont even be close though as Hull are so much stronger than Rovers at these ages, 15's in particular who could be another 'Golden Generation' like we had 4/5 years ago where about 6 of the squad went on to play first grade.'"
Do the teams play each other at these ages?

Yeah they will be from now on which is a great idea from the rfl as Super League sides scholarship players will be playing against each other instead of the traditional Hull Service Area/Schools. A massive step in the right direction as far as youth development goes.

| Quote: Basil Fawlty "Do they still have service area then?'" There will be Service Area but players who are on a scholarship wont be allowed to be selected. I dont really see the point in carrying on with Service Area though when you get to 15's+ as both Hull and Rovers have 25 players signed up to play for them so essentially the best 45 players from the city will be unavailable.

Rovers had 2 years of derby glory whilst we were in our transitional period, it is now normal service resumed even after this one result yesterday. All that talk from the eastern block a couple of years ago about a shift in power in this city, all the young kids will head east etc, what a load crap, we will always be number one in Hull.'" One derby win and the power has shifted back west , come the end of the season and you have beaten us twice and finished above Rovers then fair enough. A nice touch of arrogance about always being number one in the city to finish off, how can you always be number one when you obviously haven't been for the past couple of years?.

Sounds like Service Area only works for ages 12-14 then!
How old are kids when they identified for Rovers/FC's Academies?

Totally disagree with that....Service area is important because a good few in both scholarships will be dropped next year..16s is the age they really scout, they will also scout at the service area games, they know kids develop with a 4 year variance so little Johnny who was not noticed this season may well be one of the best next season, and kids they have had in scholarship for the last couple of years may not have developed their game any further on.

Hull and Mel Harman in particular need alot of credit for out of town and signing up some of the best players from Yorkshire.
I really dont see the point in Service Area once Foundation sides start playing if anything its typical BARLA not wanting to feel undermined digging in and demanding that it continues.

That is the age they do make big changes believe me.
I know of 6 players who have been picked up this season. Both FC & KR are monitoring several players in the 15s (16s nxt season)next season..Players from our club (16s), were signed professional last year for KR, FC & Harlequins after never been through scholarship.
It is never too late to scout players professional clubs do the most serious scouting between the ages of 16-18.
