Interpretation:Where opponents do not make a tackle effective in the quickest possible manner but then attempt to drag an opponent into touch or back towards his own in goal area then the referee should immediately call held.
Application: This does not prevent players driving an opponent into touch or back into his own in goal area providing that a team mate of the ball carrier has not added their weight to the tackle. As soon as the referee sees a tackling player dragging the ball carrier in a tackle that involves more than one tackler he will call "held". If the tackling players continue to move the ball carrier after the "held" call they should be penalised.
So we are basically saying that - as there were 3 Bradford players forcing Tansey into touch that this was a penalty in our favour and the referee was incorrect therefor, justified booing!!

Agreed.
Unfortunately at the next ptb he is 11m away, followed by 15m, 12m, 9m, 11m, 8m etc. Oh and the players advancing before the ball player has played the ball. Now if he was consistently 10m away that would make things nice and straightforward.

Every time a player is tackled, all defenders, apart from a maximum of two markers, have to retreat 10 metres from the play-the-ball area. This will be marked by the referee (in other words the defending side retire back to the referee). The defending side may advance when the ball is rolled back by the foot. If they move forward early, or don't retire far enough back, it's a penalty."

As I have said elsewhere it would be much easier, especially for referees, if they simply applied the laws as they are written. That would remove lots of doubt. Hell - we even mark the pitch in 10m bits to help out with it. Unfortunately the refs have started disappearing up their own arris when it comes to "interpretation". The laws are simple and straightforward. Apply them would be my simple and straightforward advice. |

As soon as they started to drag him Thaler should of called held. Then if they carried on they should of been penalised. |

| You cant. At least you couldn't earlier in the season when Long was penalised for it. Maybe it's all been changed. Maybe there's been a new directive or summat.  |

He should have given voluntary tackle on Tansey for me. How many times do refs miss the first obvious decission and then give a lesser offence at the very next oppotunity almost as if there making up for missing the first
