| I would offer him another year, as (apart from Yeaman) we would still have a fairly inexperienced back line.

| As already posted, I'd think he's a mid range earner. There wasn't a bidding war for him and he was struggling for selection at Wigan. Depends as ever on the alternative. Seems very unlikely we'll go for an outside quota back with Fitz OOC and the quota falling, and we have plenty of emerging but inexperienced talent at wing/centre so makes sense to re-sign him IMO. I love his enthusiasm and as Phil Clarke referenced he's probably one of the best try-savers in the comp. Like Raynor, he suffers from our lack of service from centre.

| I'd resign him too. He's the only out and out winger we have at the club and could do with his big game experience to bring the likes of Briscoe, Lyne and Tuffour along.

| At the moment I woudl keep Calders, but this could change if the right person came up or if any prospects stood out. There is always a place for an experienced player in the backs and Claders has much still to offer.
Hanging on to Hall is going to be hard, I know of several clubs chasing him now and he passed up a very large wedge loss at the Bulls last time to stay with us. Sending him to Widnes may have seen like a good idea but he made some very good contacts with the clubs over that side whilst there.

| can't believe people are so quick to write him off, he spent last season in the worst Hull side of the last 10years, with Thorman running the show.
since then he's been injured and played once..and people are already suggesting we get rid?? madness

| Quote: Amadeo Avogadro "Calderwood has been excellent for us since the moment he signed. Throughout the crap we endured last year he was one of the few who looked consistently interested. Added to that, he is one of the fastest wingers in SL.
I cannot, for the life of me, see a reason why any Hull fan would want to get rid of him. It baffles me.'"
Well said.
If the rest of the squad had put in the effort and enthusiasm last season that Mark did we wouldn't have finished 12th.
It was great to have him back on Friday - his chase and tackle on Jones-Bishop summed the bloke up. Hopefully with Long at the club Calders can notch up plenty of tries this season. Its still early in the campaign to think of contracts but I'd like to think he'll eventually get a new 12 month deal.

As above.
Also he can pass bags of experience onto guys like Lynne who are learning their trade.

| It looks like most fans would offer him a new deal, one year. I still think he needs to show abit more.
anyway
Read the on-line HDM chat thing yesterday, in which James Smailes mentioned Tickle, he siad that he was looking to move west last year for personal reasons (think we all knew that), he siad that tickle is now happy in Hull and wants to stay.
Ben impressive so far this season, looks to be getting his form from a couple of seasons ago, I would keep him we have Burnett and Keny coming through, but I expect cusack to go, so we could play Lauaki at prop, leaving Burnett, Tickle, Maun and Fitzgibbon for the backrow positions.

| Definetly worth a one year deal imo.
Very good defence, good ideas in attack, when we get the ball to him that is - and that has improved, which is another good reason to keep quality wingers imo. Does need to work a bit on defending kicks though imo.

| what other english wingers are they that we could get hall - no chance, fox-again dont think so, raynor-no, hodgson-is he better then calderwood no, cudjoe-good player but not a specilist winger who is still young himself, ainscough - POTENTIAL has his faults but looks a great young player and dont think wigan are that keen or he would be in there team so maybe but i think we need experience. so for me i would keep calderwood unless leeds wanted rid of hall but doubt it haha are they any better english wingers then calderwood apart from hall

| Calders has proved me wrong with his work ethic and attitude. There doesn't seem to be a lost cause to him. However, I think he's terrible at finishing. He can have a two metre gap but instead of diving in, he'll cut inside. He also never seems to back his pace and take the opposition on on the outside. I personally think it would be criminal to deprive the young lads a chance but also think it would be harsh on Calders to let him go. Maybe there is another solution such as Briscoe to the centres which obviously raises questions on Hall/Yeaman.

I don't think Hall is better than Calderwood.

| I kind of agree with Dave.
As much as I like Calders I've never been a big an of spending lots of money on a winger (I don't know what he earns but I would imagine it is a decent wage). With Lyne knocking on the door who is probably bigger, faster and stronger is it worth keeping him? I suppose I would give him one more year to see how Lyne and Tuffour develop. Tbh we are spoilt for young 3 quarter talent atm. It will be difficult to accomodate T Briscoe, Hall, Lyne, Yeaman, Calders, Turner and Tuffour in the same side, all of which either are, or have the makings of quality players.
