But partially offsetting that saving we paid a transfer fee of £30k for Tansey plus his wages for part of the season plus Cordoba. I agree about Agar but we still had the wrong coaching structure IMO last season with him, Jon Sharp and Lee Crooks. Could get better value for money from their combined salaries.

Qn, these must be the 08/09 accounts, so the Tansey payment etc wont be in them as it happened after April/May, surely that (and the payment of contracts for released players) will be in the next set of accounts?

No the accounting year end is 30th October.

I'm sure that may have contributed but not as much as some would think. We've used the cash in other ways i believe to any profit we announce will still be true profit comparable to the previous 5 years we've named one.

All well and good for your off-field operations, pats on the back etc.

2 points, however:-

1. Would you have traded a slight loss for better on the field results?

2. Could you cope with another mediocre season, possibility of fans drifting away etc., as long as it meant making another yearly profit?

Of course, there is a possibility that recruitment for next year might improve results on a short term basis, but if that turns out not to be the case, do the fans feel the structures are in place to ensure the club remains in such a healthy state financially? Or is that too difficult a question in these times?
