| Quote: chico's nose "With the recent events at our club and the sudden willingness to finally use that rod of iron that has been stashed away for far too long, I am left wondering if Rich Agar has effectively had to do his job this season with his hands tied behind his back.
At the end of last season, Agar stated that certain players were playing for their futures at our club. Performance didn’t improve, but the expected clearout or cull never materialised.
Performances this season have mostly been unacceptable, but Agar has remained fireproof and has had the continued backing of the board. Could it be that Agar presented the board with a list of names at the end of last season that he wanted rid off (probably the same list of names that he has given this year), but due to players been under contract the board were unwilling to pay them off?
Could it be that realising they were effectively tying Agar’s hands behind his back that the board gave him assurances that his job was safe, regardless of how we performed this season and that they guaranteed full support to him in getting rid of players this season?
This is only a personal observation, but all of a sudden things seem to be falling into place for this supporter. Hopefully with the cull, new, more professional players and the board and coach working together, we can finally start to get back on the right path as a club. with the shackles off, will we get to see the real Rich Agar?'"
If this was the case, Agar should have resigned and stated the board will not back him. Any decent coach couldn't work with those constraints, so I doubt this was the case.

| By the time next season starts he will have been in the job 21 months with a 30% win ratio, there or thereabouts. The club say he needs to wait for players' contracts to expire and get new players in before he can do anything. Frankly that's shocking, as it effectively admits he has lost a sizeable proportion of the dressing room (if he had it to start with).
Maybe they are right, but there is not a single shred of evidence to suggest we will have a gameplan and galvanise the quality we have in the squad to deliver its best next year. The only reasons for optimism next year are that we have a better pack who may take it upon themselves to get us going forward, and a decent scrum half. Don't forget that Fitz and O'Meley have yet to get visas, Yeaman has a serious injury and Berro may miss the start of the season. Chuck in our normal selection of injuries picked up in pre season training and a "if you see it, play it" gameplan manual and I can't see grounds for much optimism. And I'm very much a "glass half full" fan.

| You mean it's as full as that? I'm suprised Fitzy didn't say to the Hull board, I'll come, on the grounds you get a coach who knows what he's doing. He must have been told the goings on and the ability of our so called 'coach' from the other australian players, so either he's got got the IQ of Forrest Gump and believed everything that Agar said, or he's getting paid far too much to care. My bet would be the latter.

What we are saying is that a club that has the potential to be Top 4 deserves a proven coach. Agar has proven nothing yet, other than, with a 30% win ratio, he's struggling big-time, unfortunately.

| One strange decision though is that he kept Thackray one of the main booze crew and well known slacker at training and let Wheeldon go to the dark side, who is a top trainer and now with a good coach is starting to fly, last season at the KC he was the best prop on the field against Rovers which is why Morgan signed him. Any one remember his hit on Morley who got up and shook his hand.
