I don't believe Maloney has the physical attributes to be a top level prop in SL. Neither do the club it seems.

He's performed better than King and Thackray when hes played imo, so I would rather have him than those two. He looks good for me, and with quota rules tightening I think he would be a good 5th choice prop for us

To be honest I have only seen Maloney play a couple of times for the first team where he has looked OK. Also he looked nothing special in the in the reserves.

Agar and the coaching team have seen him every day in training, so will have a better judgment of him.

Fair enough it's all about opinions. I certainly see his on field attitude as excellent - better than the two you mention (off field probably too ) however I feel he's always playing above his weight just to survive somehow. That said I would have liked to see both him and Moa given more chance this year. It's not as if our pack hasn't merited some changes.

With 12 defeats in 15 games, and one home win since the end of February, do you really trust the judgement of our coach?

Can't say I've ever heard of him, hopefully he will bring some freshness and enthusiasm to the pack.

Not saying much is it, we've got one of the worst packs in SL and he Maloney hardly shines in it. Maybe keep him on one more year (depending on how much he's on and whetehr the money will be better spent elsewhere) however I don't think he'll ever be a good enough player for a team in the top 2 (which is what we're aiming for or atleast should be)

All the reports say he's a creative prop and earlier reports say he was exciting. Let's hope he can rekindle his form, he could turn out to be the best forward signing yet!

Saints have proved that you can have a quality 18 or 19 players and use back up players who arent quite upto the grade (although have potential to be I'll admit) and still be the best team in the league. If we spend the bulk of our cap on 18-19 players of high quality, then we can have cheap players like Maloney as back up and can come in when injuries hit

Whats he and the rest of the coaching staff ever done to have your trust? As far as I can see, none have achieved anything on any sort of consistant basis for them to have the trust

Like I said I would have kept him on for another year if he's dirt cheap however if he's been offered a contract from another club where he's on considerably more (like Wheeldon last year) than I wouldn't match the offer. I think he's too light going forward and with Dowes, O'Meley, Yak, Luaiki with Radford/Fitz capable of doing a front row job that's 6 players in front of him not to mention the possibility of Moa/Cordobra being here next season and maybe even King.
