| Quote: MR BOJANGLES "Why is he great though ??
Why isnt he getting interchanges right ?, Why does he allow us to have one single runner all the time and never move up and attack as a team ?,
Why cant he seem to be able to motivate the team, Why does he allow the team to continuously play one directional rugby with five drives and a kick when it simply isnt working ?
Apologies but I cant see why you think he is a great coach.'"
Agreed.
Quote: MR BOJANGLES "I'm sure Agar is a nice bloke (that's not the swear filter, btw) but he lacks the gravitas our club needs.'"
Agreed.
The only thing to add is that the players have to take some responsibility for performing below the level they as individuals are capable of. Look at Calderwood. Gash under international and "most-successful-coach-in the-SL-era", a revelation under Agar. Don't know whether Agar has anything to do with it, but it looks more to me like Calderwood has taken it upon himself to give 100% every game and delivers every week. Can't deny that if everyone did the same we'd have won more games than we have done this year, regardless of the coach.

That's a valid point Mrs B. Even though I don't think Agar is up to it, It's not all down to him. The players have to cop some of it!!!

Without a doubt it cut's both way's
but the coach seems to have given up and is just looking at next season , saying it's not my squad etc wait till i'll get my own
Instead of looking at it and saying im going to spped the ptb up and get everything out of this squad i have here, afterall i though thats what he gets paid for

Standing up to the forum bully.
It must be working, he doesn't like me...i'm devastated: |
|
| In my opinion any S.L. coach could get results at Saints, they play a fast and attractive brand of rugby. The difficulty for lesser coaches would be man management skills and day to day problems which appear at all clubs through out a season.

Only way that would happen is if the get rid of sharp and appoint a DOR to work alongside agar but leave him as head coach

| Then none of you saw York play when Agar was a rookie coach. They were a very entertaining team to watch and won the league. It may not be superleague but he has imo got the potential to be a top coach.I say give the guy a chance, let him get rid of the deadwood and let him get his own players in and then judge him.

he hasn't even learnt how to use his interchanges yet, just how long do we have to wait
and we keep hearing 'give him chance to shift the deadwood' so why did he renew Radford for another year before the season even started, he is the very definition of past-it plodding deadwood.

How long do we wait for him to master the basics like bench rotation FFS?
And he had a chance to get shot of some of the deadwood already. He failed to take it. In fact he extended the contracts of some of it.

I think the more sensible suppoerters accept that some things are out of Agars hands, like some of the dross we have in the already when he took over, and I think everyone accepts that the squad he is working with is average at best, I wouldnt necessarly say that he would have done a bad job even if we didnt make the play offs this year such is the lack of quality in the squad.
The above though is no excuse for his baffling use of the interchanges, our complete lack of organisation in attack especially regarding set plays, and generally not trying anything other then 5 drives and a kick, those are the main points people are making and they are very valid in my opinion.
You also say that he needs to be given a chance to get rid of the deadwood, which is a fair point considering the short amount of time he has been in the job, but has he shown any evidence of wanting to do this? As a poster already mentioned he extended Radfords contract and plays him in the backrow when he is really a front rower at best, Thorman was recruited under him and he persists to play him week in and week out, while a talented but flawed player like Hall is left out in the cold.
