Correct! Unlike many others his positives this season have outweighed his negatives.

I thought Tommy Lee was good against Wakey and also calderwood, prob best 2 on the pitch. Id keep Tommy Lee now after a few undecided years.

If I were to take over tomorrow with the ability to somehow clear out those that I didn't want. The following players would be gone by teatime...

Cusack - too similar to Dowes and not good enough for a quota place

Radford - mediocrity personified

Lee - just not good enough

Thorman - just not good enough

King - best days way too far behind him

G Horne - just not good enough

M Tony - tying him down to FB was a big mistake but his injuries are also a concern.

R Horne would be our first choice FB and I would look for a 6 and a 7. We would also need a centre, if anything was left it would be spent on trying to bolster up the pack.

Haven't you heard Washbrook is our new 6 acording to another post earlier! icon_lol.gif
Guess they didn't see him last season covering for R. Horne / Dykes alongside Berro icon_eek.gif Looked about as clueless last season as he did on Friday night .

He's a very poor excuse for a centre, he has cost us a few tries this year for me. He offers little in attack and is terrible at passing to his winger. If we want to be a top 2 side we simply need players A LOT better then Horne, who, without that last name wouldn't be here for me.

Overseas quota for 2011 needs to kept in mind for 2010 - a maximum of 5 and can't see we'd get any decent overseas player on less than a 2-3 year deal. Already under contract for 2011 are:

Crocker
Lauaki
Berrigan

I'd go for using the other 2 spots for a SH and either renewing Manu's contract or a centre.

This assumes that these would all count as the 5 overseas players and are not exempt due to the latest confusing RFL fudge about existing contracted players - not really sure how that would affect us. icon_confused.gif

We have far too many players who "do okay" and "work hard" and if we want to be a top 2 side within the next 5 or 6 years we need much much better than that.

Think he has suffered for not having a nailed down position.. I would like to see him put on a stone and play at 13.

In comparative terms, he's no more a poor excuse for a centre than Calderwood is a poor excuse for a winger or almost any other player in the team is a poor excuse for their position. You can't have a go at our top try scorer for costing us a few tries! Our entire back division (as uninspiring as they are) are playing behind a beaten pack of plodders.

Quote: gostrider "For me....

Motu - club seem to be hiding extent of injury. Good player and would be off quota but wants to go back home (injury permitting) - Leaving

Reardon - Get Rid!!!

Craig Hall - Where gonna damage a promising kid by killing him at fullback. Needs to play centre in a good back line - keep

Raynor - Quality but poor bloke has never played with a decent centre - Keep

Tom Briscoe - Rising star - definitely keep (although we will probably bring him to our level) - keep

Calderwood - Cant fault enthusiasm. Guy thrives on chances with his pace will never get them with our HB's. Will never be a powerful 'break tackle' winger - keep

Yeamo - On his day and in right team - Class - Keep

G Horne - Not upto this level - will never win us trophies - Get Rid

R Horne - Love the guy to bits but never a HB - needs broken play to run into. Needs to be FB or centre. Static when receiving the ball, poor kick game and not a 'voice' in the team. keep but at FB

Thorman - Simply - Get Rid - Poor kick game -cannot run the line, poor full back playing scrum half

Dowes - grafter - tireless worker - cannot punch line though. Agar spells too long - Keep

King - had his day?? but only player who shows aggression - undecided?

Cusack - Too similiar to Dowes but takes up quota space - Get Rid

Thacks - Not the player of 2005 - Too many penalties, never really busts line, just runs sidewards - Get Rid

Maloney - unproven - Too early to say

Berro - World class but looks as interested as a veggie at a steak eating contest - if we cant turn around short time get rid - he wont be here for a struggle - if we get a new coach and recruit well - keep - cos hes class

Moa - Looks good - if only Agar didn't play him on an egg timer - Keep

Radford - plodder - Get Rid

Tickle - Good 2nd row forward- hard eorker but needs a quality running 2nd rower alongside - keep

Burnett - promisng - keep

Manu - Sheer quality but lacks the backs to put him in space - Keep

Washbrook - not showing quality of 3 years ago - probably due to poor coaching - get rid

Tommy Lee - shouldn't be FC class - Ged rid

Houghton - Rising star but if berro's fit and focused should be plying his trade in the reserves and as an understudy.

Whiting - great lad but injury prone - time to let him develope else where - get rid

Basically I think we need:

New coaches

R horne at FB
Raynor
New centre
Yeamo
Calderwood
New Stand off
New Scrum Half
Dowes
Focused Berro - or new hooker
New Prop
2nd rower - ideally Crocker / Manu
Tickle
Loose Man

bench off

Manu (if crocker arrives)
Lauaki (yes I'm dreaming)
Moa
New signing

Please comment

Reardon hasnt even played and you want rid...at least he is a bloody F/B.

Whiting should be kept....let him go and he will bite us on the ar$e.

Errrrr yes we can...he may have got 5 but if he must have let about 6 in....outweighs that doesnt it....Whiting is better at centre than G.Horne...simple as.

Ofcourse he is, Calderwood's a proven winger, G Horne just got stuck in the centres because that's where there was a gap, he isn't a centre, he bombed a try on Friday. Him and Richard Horne cost us 2 tries against Cas, Cullen alluded to the fact they're suspect in defence (Ok maybe not the greatest mind in the world but he still knows his stuff imo).

Saints have Gidley, Leeds have Senior and we have... Graham Horne.
