My favourite of those knocked down in that area was Star of The West .

Yeah that name rings a bell. The one I was thinking of was opp the stands for the buses to Bransholme, Sutton etc, kinda before the buses pull out of the station (back of the old YEB I think?).

Think you mean Star and Garter. Star of the West used to be where the entrance to Prospect Centre is near to Hammonds, back of the old Daily Mail building.

Yeah that's still there (erm, so I hear ), meant that other one slightly nearer, think it was Providence like you said.

Anyway, another belter of a Saturday at the Gingerman Revival, can't recommend it enough.

Yeah mate, been running about a year now and gradually building. Would say between 25-50 will probably be there on Sat. Kids very welcome AFAIK (until 7pm whilst it's on anyway I think).
Really quality afternoon, great music, good laugh and needless to say you never get the slightest bit of bother (which doesn't stop police cars, vans patrolling the area constantly though, presumably because they assume a big crowd outside a pub is certain to start kicking off! ).
If you like classic rock/metal you can't beat it.
