I agree with playing Maloney but I wouldn't drop Burnett, he had a really solid game last night.
Hall will get his chance and I hope he takes it with both hands when it comes along.

Whats the difference between not going to win and going not to lose? Playing for a draw?
If we play the 17 we did last night every game and win 90% of them in a 'safe' way he isnt doing too bad is he!

| Quote: me 'n' our kid "G Horne didn't do anything in defence and in particularly in attack last night to suggest he is aa better choice than C Hall.
Our defence was so strong across the line Hall wouldn't have been exposed, and on more than 1 occasion in attack Horne stepped to come back inside whereas Hall would have taken them on on the outside and given his winger more of a chance as he is quicker thinker and has better hands. G Horne didn't do anything with his chances, Hall would have made more of those chances, he's got to start next week.'"
Dont change a winning team.

| Yeaman is going backwards. He was shooting out of the defensive line last night, looking for the big hit and leaving Briscoe isolated in defence. Dropped a pass from a Manu break. He has never been the smartest player but he should be guiding young Briscoe not the other way round.
Craig Hall needs to have worked on his defence and size in the off season. Also, I believe some of Craig's deficiencies are down to his attitude. Great talent though, that just needs harnessing.

Thought Yeamo did really well defensively last night. I didnt notice him leaving Briscoe isolated, he stopped the man the times i saw him do it.
He put several excellent skoots in to clear our line and did all that was expected IMO. Solid start to the season.

The two try saving tackles that Bryne put in were awesome but they both resulted in breaks caused by Yeaman looking for the big hit but not getting there in time. It must have been our view from the East stand, but plenty around me were of the same opinion.

I'm no doom and merchant. I really enjoyed the game, thought we looked solid if not spectacular. it was a good base to start the season from. If it wasn't for our mistakes Wigan wouldn't have got near our line last night. We are going to need to build steadily all year and not expect miracles. The attendance was OUTSTANDING, I for one may have to eat humble pie concerning Friday nights. I think Kirk is a top bloke, bu his lack of concentration infuriates me!!!!

One was, but one was Briscoe drifting in when it wasn't needed.

I just think when Raynor is fit it will be either Yeaman or G. Horne who makes way. At present I would keep Horne in and move Briscoe to centre. If Yeaman can get his act together he is one of the centres in the country but he needs some serious 1to1 coaching at present.

It's the difference between how saints and leeds play and how we and much of the rest of SL do

Are you seriously suggesting last night's performance would win us 90% of games this season?

Probably not, but we just needed to be better than Wigan last night and we were.
