Two points...
1. Nobody is writing him off. Questions are being raised as to whether he is the best choice.
2. I, and many others questioning Agar's appointment, were solidly behind Kear when he was promoted from within.

| As a Saints fan I can see the logic behind Agars job.
When he took over briefly after Kiers departure he did a decent job, and against Saints on Sunday he managed to get a gritty performance from the guys. Many teams would merely have folded.
Your current situation is horrendous. You should be hovering around the top of the table, but like Wire are vastly under performing.
Injuries do play a part, but Hulls lack of offensive creativity has been noted, this isnt for lack of talent, but instead lack of systems to correctly exploit that talent.
The most glaring sign is your failure to develop young players to their full potential.
Richard Horne is a classic case of a player who just hasnt fulfilled his rich early promise.
Graham Horne was also a hot junior prospect who just hasnt gone anywhere
Yeaman is another who has just stagnated.
Tommy Lee was hailed as a great prospect, but has merely become a big pudding.
This to me is an indication of Peter Sharps weakness in coaching.
The best coaches dont necessarily win things, but they do improve players.
I dont therefore see how Agar can do a worse job.
He might not be a big name now, however he has the chance to become a big name. Remember everyone has to start somewhere.
With no relegation its not exactly a big gamble.
The 2 and half year contract will enable the club to make a fair assessment of whether the team and players have been taken forward.
For examples of a coach who have developed players, look at how Brian Mcdermott has brought on players like Tony Clubb, Louis McCarthy Scarsbrook and Michael Worrincy at Harlequins.

| I'm disappointed with the appointment.
I'm not bothered how old he is or where he comes from, so I don't see what is so great about having a "young British coach".
Agar will get my support and I desparately hope he proves me and other doubtors wrong, but I just feel this is an appointment that is not one a top club should be making.

| Gone for the cheap option imo.
My main concern is will he be able to bring some top players to Hull ?
You hear all the time from players they went to a certain club because who the coach is.

I would find it hard to disagree with any of that. PS did a good job in handling the youngsters integration into the first team but they have not progressed in the way they should have done.
I am hoping RA is strong enough to be his own man and make tough decisions about player retention and they way in which we play.

Agar was attacking coach under Kear, that is when the rot started.

Horne suffered from not having a fixed position for much of his career, and then being played at SH when he is an SO. Sharp changed that as soon as he was able, and Horne started to blossom. Who knows what would have happened this season had he not been injured for all bar 2 games?
Hall is still a good prospect, but has been over-played this season due to injuries elsewhere.
Yeaman was never as good as some thought.
Lee may or may not still make the grade. At the moment he is also suffering from being played all over the park and too often due to our injury situation.

Which shows how little you know about Sharp. The one thing he was hailed as a success for in Oz was his ability to bring through and develop young players.
