I think the problem with certain threads is not the fact that people are happy with the improvement Hull showed last season, (I wouldnt use the word success), if not happy with the overall picture, but the constant insinuation that 2010 was an abject failure by some which is totally unreasonable IMO.
Your breaking down of into tiers is probably fair but I would class consistant challengers as the top tier and not just trophy winning. Saints havent won a trophy since beating us at Wembley in 2008 but I would not class them as failures. Just as I think the Giants will be pleased with their progress despite remaining trophy less because they are now in the mix and genuine contenders for the major prizes. |

If you want to amend my 5 tier model into a 6 tier model thats ok. Tier 5 is consistently challenging. Tier 6 has to be winning silverware then. Consistently challenging and winning nothing cannot be the ultimate level imo. |

Matterson - Definately Not
Robinson - Going to say No
Powell - No
Brown - Not entirely sure, can take him or leave him
Morgan - No, don't think he can offer us anything
McDermott - No
McRae - Didn't do it before, won't do it again. No
Simmons - Not seen enough of him to pass judgement
Kear - No
Smith - Obvious answer would be Yes but not seen him work with a squad that isn't really the best in the league
McGuire - See Smith, obviously a great coach but so you should be with that squad of players
Harris - No
Just my opinion..!

Thats a fair point. The top level would have to be a limited club out of the reach of 12 of the 14 clubs any one year. |
