I was made redundant in feb of this year after working as a design engineer in several companies for the past 7 yrs. I've got a b/eng in mech engineering, working towards chartership and was due to start my masters in 2010. I've taken qualifications in pneumatics and hydraulics, have 7 a'levels A-C and 12 GCSE'S. Unfortunately the market is swamped with engineers, with firms closing weekly. My partner works fulltime which pays the bills and keeps the car on the road.

I went to an advanced job search at the request of the job centre a couple of weeks ago where I was told that my job seekers allowance would end in the first week of november, as thats when my contributions ran out. I was then offered some part time employment at mitie cleaners and told that if I wanted to, I could also take a GCSE in english and maths (just to bump my grades up. I have A's in these subjects at A level).

The long and short of it is that the job centre is a farce. The courses that they offer are a farce, and some of the people that work there, are a farce. The sooner it stops being all about the figures and more about the people, the better. If wasters dont want to work, then dont make them. Just dont dont pay them.

As it is I've voluntarily come off job seekers. Fed up of being raped of my dignity every second monday.

When staff have to meet targets the welfare of the clients doesn't matter.

i still stand by my opinion that those who want to work, will work. those who dont, wont...and should get their benefits stopped.

After watching last night, it only served to enforce my belief that all these
companies serve is there own profit margins. I am also deeply concerned how these companies promise "work" and then release people after a few weeks. They get a nice big wedge of dosh I bet and guess who funds that to the tune of £700 million, that is the bloody scandal.

All the time I can hear people moaning about benefit cheats and it would appear that the biggest fraud seems to be happening with full government blessing. I can not see any reason to keep these companies in work, sorry I mean sponging of the backs of the unemployed. The fact is they offer false hope to people and the guy last night who went to the gardening firm, was aweful. The fact that everyone knew what was going to happen and clearly the guy had problems but fair play to him he had a go. Then they kicked him in the vitals, some people may have gone out at that point and done serious damage to something or some one.


This has to stop

and a4e are also involved in our Citizens advice Bureau being taken over by them after being run for 40 years with council funding now the funding is going to a4e.
