I’m happy enough with the decision, and as someone has already mentioned, it is great to finally be able to have a genuine choice of players who would be worthy of being captain.
It wouldn’t surprise me if this decision was made during the initial contract discussions with Agar dangling the captaincy to Long if he signed, if so a pretty smart move imo. Long has nothing to prove as a player, but is relatively unproven as an official captain, so this move is an indication to me that Long is not here just for the money and still wants to prove himself.
Roll on the new season.

Fitzgibbon would've been my choice but I'm quite happy wih Long in the role.
Fitz brings leadership skills on and off the pitch anyway.

"I've really took to Fitzy and Ogre," he said. "Fitzy's a very professional bloke, and I think it was either him or me for the captaincy. Ogre can't sit still for two minutes. He's crackers, puddled – miles worse than me." Coming from the new Hull captain, that is quite a statement.

but maybe long got the job as fitz is only on a one year deal and they wanted some consistancy for next year. just a thought!!
