Quote: Jake the Peg "I would prefer a younger, up and coming coach who is more likely to innovate, but plenty of examples of those not working. Maybe cartwright just hasn't wanted the extra responsibility and stress of being a head coach in the NRL?'"

Innovate and more important motivate
Plenty of doubters on here about Sam Burgess.
Like him or hate him he is doing a good job

Quote: Cuddleclub "For every Woolf or Holdbrook there’s a Brett Hodgson and a Rohan Smith, doesn’t mean they’ll be a success.'"

Let's be honest, it's going to be a gamble whoever we appoint given the state we're in. I know not everyone was convinced Tony Smith was going to lead us to success but I doubt many of us foresaw him being as disastrous as he was considering his experience.

For me, it's not just about the head coach but what the club provides them resource wise. Hodgson had a few handicaps thrown at him by us when he joined such as limited cap space, not being able to bring in his own staff etc. We'll never know for sure if he would have been better if he'd been able to do more in those areas. It sounds like whoever comes in for us now is going to have cap space to work with and the club is planning backroom additions so I am hoping we give them an environment to flourish in.

To be honest if it was a re location problem which it seems to be then if Rowley cant be bothered or lacked the ambition for the project to find a rental property in the area for the duration of his contract then he was not the man for the job

100% agree. If it was that then it shows he didn't really have any real interest or desire in the job.

Agree with that, especially re Hodgson. Hopefully if it is Cartwright he gets the staff and players he wants and we spend full cap.

it's also about having the right checks and balances in place to make sure individuals aren't making stupid decisions

Well I suppose that was 6pm announcement of sorts... just not from us! icon_lol.gif

Wonder if there was any genuine interest from Lam or if it was all just a ruse for a better contract. I suspect the latter.

Yep. Lam should be thanking us. No doubt used us to get a better deal. Backed Degsy in to a corner.
