| Quote: Milky121086 "HDM's article today seem to suggest its likely to be Cartwright, if so then id be over the moon with that! Someone who has worked at the top end of the game and previously worked as assistant in the origin games for NSW. Big pedigree and very well respected in Aus. Quite straight talking too which we may need for both man management and handling the media. Would potentially attract one or two names from NRL too. In Cartwright we trust!!
For anyone doubting his appointment i cant fathom why? Yes hes an assistant currently but wasn't Willie Peters too? Wasn't Holbrook too? Wasn't Kristian Woolf too? plus Cartwright has experience as a head-coach and did well at the Titans.'"
For every Woolf or Holdbrook there’s a Brett Hodgson and a Rohan Smith, doesn’t mean they’ll be a success.

Innovate and more important motivate
Plenty of doubters on here about Sam Burgess.
Like him or hate him he is doing a good job

Let's be honest, it's going to be a gamble whoever we appoint given the state we're in. I know not everyone was convinced Tony Smith was going to lead us to success but I doubt many of us foresaw him being as disastrous as he was considering his experience.
For me, it's not just about the head coach but what the club provides them resource wise. Hodgson had a few handicaps thrown at him by us when he joined such as limited cap space, not being able to bring in his own staff etc. We'll never know for sure if he would have been better if he'd been able to do more in those areas. It sounds like whoever comes in for us now is going to have cap space to work with and the club is planning backroom additions so I am hoping we give them an environment to flourish in.

To be honest if it was a re location problem which it seems to be then if Rowley cant be bothered or lacked the ambition for the project to find a rental property in the area for the duration of his contract then he was not the man for the job

100% agree. If it was that then it shows he didn't really have any real interest or desire in the job.

Agree with that, especially re Hodgson. Hopefully if it is Cartwright he gets the staff and players he wants and we spend full cap.

it's also about having the right checks and balances in place to make sure individuals aren't making stupid decisions

Leeds bound I would guess.

Well I suppose that was 6pm announcement of sorts... just not from us!
Wonder if there was any genuine interest from Lam or if it was all just a ruse for a better contract. I suspect the latter.
