| You looked like the Giants at the start of last year!
We had one attacking move in our 'playbook'. You used it tonight and it was equally ineffective.
Our players had to stick to a rigid plan. Talented players had less and less freedom. Play got increasingly 'conservative'.

And ours is becoming more and more laboured

25852_1297892995.jpg You've stolen my washing
From out my back garden
You've tarmacked my driveway
Even though I said no
You've nicked my lead flashing
And weighed it in at the scrappy

| It's a concern that some of you are pinning your hopes on 2 more forwards turning up soon, sometime, maybe never. All that does is give you 2 more blokes to plod up the middle with.
And as for the chap saying Rovers don't have anything to worry him, after that display last night they probably won't need a great deal to beat you.
Be afraid.

That's my biggest concern.
Did they play above themselves for the first few games to try and make amends for last season, before reverting to the 'real' Hull for the last two?
Or were the first five games an indication of the potential in the squad and the last two a blip?
It's difficult to say confidently either way at this stage.

It's looking like the 1st 5 opposition were undercooked and we where all blinded by our victories.
We played far too narrow last night, Manu worked his bollox off but to be honest he 'tried too much' to the point that the ball stopped with him and rarely got past him.
I thought he was our stand out player for all the effort he made.
I think Thorman will get a lesson at SH from a 19 year old next week, the only thing I saw from him was when he checked his run to draw 3 defenders before passing to Hall for him to pass to Yeaman for the first try, that same hesitated step nearly got Briscoe away last week.

My thoughts too, waste of money too, interesting to find out,how much he gets for 15 mins work a week

You missed Thorman's kick through for Hall's try then ? He was instrumental in both Hull's tries and has been in the majority of the tries we've scored this season. I agree this should be the case he's our half back however some of the put downs he gets on here blatantly ignore the fact that he is our most creative player in terms of try assists. Not international class by any means but still capable of creating chances both with kicks and ball in hand.
Our forwards, Manu apart, were owned by Quins' pack and particularly their defence which was yards faster out of the line. This is what happened in most games last year. We needed to play more expansive but didn't presumably due to tactics. If so Agar was totally wrong. I'd rather we'd gone down to defeat making mistakes whilst throwing the ball wide rather than ploughing down the middle. Ploughing down the middle only works if the whole team is enthusiastic chasing kicks and flying out of the blocks as a unit in defence and at marker. Quins did this better than us - we lacked enthusiasm and energy across the board - a result of poor interchange options and player's attitudes probably. Not just the forwards but the backs as well. We are failing again to push on through the ruck with any support. Berro made a number of dashes last night but as usual no support whatsoever on his shoulder. It was FC 2008 last night without the injuries.

| If I was a neutral watching that last night I would have turned it off at half time.
Like some previous posters have already said it had last year written all over it. Boring rugby 5 drives and a kick.
Why do we keep taking Berro off, he can play 80mins, he's so important to our team. Not only that but the timing of the substitutions, at one point he had Cusack, Berro & Radders off 3 leaders and he replaced them with Houghton, King & Lee at a crucial time of the game. That's before I even mention the problem with having Moa on the bench at all. I think the coaching staff have to take a lot of responsibility for last night.

| Fair play to quins in grinding out a result, but I dont get all the Calderwood bashing, he aint seeing much of the ball while we are ploughing down the middle. The coach (who ever that is) has to take the flack for that
