Yeh I remember that, Sunday afternoon early to mid sixties I think it was amateur game or some sort of junior professional comp but he played for Castleford he was knick-named the dodger then I think. The programme was usually preceded by motor cycle scrambling which was usually won by Arthur Lampkin.

The way of the Fakir.
The way of the Monk.
The way of the Yogi.
The most honourable being 'The way of the FC'

I remember that, and I think it was Bill Fallowfield that was the commentator, he probably gave him the name 'Roger the Dodger' as Castleford featured prominently on the programme.

| Many memories of Roger watching him play in Australia and England. Small in stature but a giant of the game at both club and international level.
One of the greatest ever players I watched play for a Hull club.
RIP Roger. Your song has ended but your melody will linger on.

| A sad day.
So sorry to hear that Rovers greatest has passed.
As a youngster I first saw him in 67, in the midst of the Airlie Birds fallow period. I was amazed at just how good he was. He was one of the reasons I loved the game. Seeing exceptional talent like his was really something, he was on a different level.
So many times I just wished we had him.
He was the reason they had the greatest period in their History. A true Legend of the game.
RIP Roger Millward.
thanks for the memories....well some of em.

Arthur Lampkin! - you've got a memory!!!
Used to love that comp'. IIRC Always muddy & a bit foggy (but that could've been our B&W telly)
The Dodger was the competition standout, & I think John Maloney was also in the in the Cas' side &
Chris Davidson in the Hull & district side.
R.I.P `Dodger' Rovers greatest, & a true legend of the game.

Bill Fallowfield there's a name from the past too and the man who I think the origins and introduction of the limited tackle rule were attributed to.
