Back to the game - Aus ref very poor at policing the ruck on his own. PNG are wrestling the life out of France well after the release call.

Not a great game despite the close scoreline. Played in wet and windy conditions, leading to some "interesting" kicks. Considering they were made up of many Catalans players France were quite poor really. Little idea in attack (Agar?)

Ref (with East Stand influence) seemed to pull France constantly back onside but fail to police PNG offside. PNG should have won it in the first 15 mins of the second half with all their pressure and obviously via the final kick.

As an FC supporter it was amusing to hear the silence when the French drop goal went over (even Rufus the Robin was in a PNG kit!) As for Enoch and Costigan - the less said the better. (Ok - both were garbage)

what a great game it had almost everything, one of the great games of the world cup. yep the nz v samoa game really had the lot. as for the png v france match, well neither team is going to win the WC and one of these 2 probably won't qualify for the QFs. thought the PNG kicking game was very poor though the wind played its part in this. france actually played a really conservative game and mostly kept the ball low when kicking through. not the greatest game but the closeness of the score kept the interest there. i also found it funny with the totally biased rovers crowd going silent after the missed kick near the end. there were a couple of fc fans there with france flags to redress the balance a bit.
as an aside i got a seat in the new north stand and was quite impressed with it to be honest, though there are a few niggles - no bins in the toilets, tvs not working. also noticed and bit of chipped paint on various things and some of the finishings look a little cheap but overall its not a bad stand

Was a very enjoyable game.
France looked like they had the more skill when they felt like using it but PNG played with more heart.
Unfortunatly from and England point of view I really cant see the French troubling NZ even with a large partisan crowd. That said when PNG had France on the ropes for a long defensive set after dropouts in the second half they stood firm.

Thought David Mead played well at FB for PNG and that kick missed at the end was actually a lot harder than it may have been reported as a new swirling wind had just started up against him.

As a side note as an FC fan if you get chance to watch the PNG/Samoa game take it. It should be cracker and Craven Park really is improved by the new stand.
