| Hindsight is a wonderful thing, most players tend to play better when they go to new clubs as they have a point to prove.

| I recal Brough was as bad an egg as can be during his time at FC but if this is purely on playing talent then he has matured big time hasnt he!
Carvel has stopped pretending to have injuries thus he seems to be playing better now...
The one i always thought had the talent was Tommy lee, all the talent in the world but chose to be a bar stool instead, however playing better week in week out..
I miss Paul K & Motu too.

| i always rated thakery at widnes he played 2 games in first team played well never got another chance when others got over a hundred games ie lee and washbook and i thought thackery showed more in 2 games to be worth giving more games to see what he could do.

Looked like an exciting off the cuff type of player in the two games that i saw him..was very surprised that he was let go so quickly!

Though seemingly not if they come to us. Perhaps that's because we generally bring in players with nothing to prove..............
and/or they're too old? I can't think of any that we've brought in and improved recently?

| I think it was Peter Sharp who let Brough and Briscoe go. Terrible decisions in my opinion.
He was the only person who thought that Tony was a better full back than Briscoe when Briscoe was clearly a better full back and Motu Tony was a very talented player who could play almost anywhere. If we had kept both these players - and if Motu had stayed fit - we would not have had the problems covering the full back and half back positions that we have had since and we would have had the flexibility of players rotating between hooker and half back that is very much in the mould of the current Huddersfield and Warrington squads.
As for Lee, not sure who the coach was when he left, but I always got the impression that he was playing to orders and not allowed to play to his instincts.

Danny Brough has really developed into a top quality Super League scrum half and fair play to him for that. The drop to the national league with Cas seemed to rejuvenate and spur him on to bigger and better and I am pleased he is in the England squad.
Carvell is a funny one because although he is a quality prop forward I always remember him as been a bit of a sicknote and rarely fit during his time at Hull.
Maybe a bit harsh.

I always thought Brough had the game in him. Carvell was great for us when he was fit, he did have a few injuries but his performances were always very good.

| There was an interview with Carvell in this week's League Express.
He said he regretted the manner of his leaving Hull. He accepts he made a mistake messing the club around and not making a definite decsion earlier. He praises the Hull fans too.

Although i was disapointed to see him go i didnt really have no beef about him leaving and who could blame him..he said it was to win trophys when a lot of our fans thought it was just for the money...i think he was proved right on that one and more then likely abit of extra dosh in his pocket aswell!
One of the best props weve had in my 20 odd years supporting hull IMO

| IMO Danny Brough and Graeme Horne are the only players mentioned who have done far better than I personally expected since they left FC.
It is probably no co-incidence that both are now at Huddersfield playing under an exceptional coach (and no that is not a criticism of Agar).
Also all credit to Kirk Dixon who has done well at Cas.
These things happen. We picked up Carvell, Raynor and Dowes from Leeds for nothing, two went on to play for GB and all three were part of our 2005 Challenge Cup and 2006 GF teams.
It happens in all sports, some you win and some you lose.
